Whilst we all know how challenging it can be to ‘switch off’ in an ‘always on’ business culture, I hope you have had a great summer break or at least found a few days to wind down and recharge your batteries. THE CLUBHOUSE OPENS IN THE CITY Following on from the success of The Clubhouse to date, we are expanding to the City, opening at Angel Court, Bank

his October, members of The Clubhouse will have access to one of the most exciting new locations in the City as The Clubhouse Bank opens at One Angel Court. Situated right in the heart of the Square Mile, a stone’s throw from Bank and Cannon Street stations, The Royal Exchange and Bank of England, The Clubhouse Bank occupies the seventh and eighth floors of this innovatively designed glass tower.

Boasting a panoramic, 360-degree view of the City skyline, members will have access to an enviable roof garden and a private roof terrace for outdoor meetings and events. As at The Clubhouse St James’s, there will be The Greenhouse, a unique meeting space offering an interactive video wall, and two presentation suites – Baker and Soane, named after architects of the landmark Bank of England building – accommodating up to 60 people.

World-renowned maker of writing instruments Montblanc has recently re-vamped its Bond Street store, showcasing its latest and classic collection of pens, stationery and watches, as well as leather goods and jewellery.

Whilst the brand may be classic, they are innovative too – look out for their Augmented Paper on display in The Clubhouse St James’s.

Take a look at one of the world’s most captivating communities in this month’s La Parisienne by Sofitel exhibition at the Sofitel London St James. Running until November, the exhibition, curated by French magazine Paris Match, explores Parisian style and culture through the decades, celebrating women whose elegance and innate sense of style symbolise the City of Lights.

When Juan Santa Cruz announced he was opening a new London outpost, fans of his Notting Hill eatery waited with baited breath. A few months in and Isabel is well and truly established as a place to see and been seen. Jewel tones exude luxury in Chinoiserie and Art Deco styling, staff wear hot Colombian designer Johanna Ortiz and the food, oh yes, that’s also noteworthy – Mediterranean flavours with Argentine influences.

My two co-founders, Natalie and Catherine, and I set up The New Craftsmen in 2012.

We represent and sell the work of exceptional British craft-makers. With a growing roster of talent from across the British Isles, we have established a reputation for elevating craft and taking it into new places and spaces through a series of dynamic and high-profile collaborations.

We opened our first pop-up with the support of Grosvenor Estates at 5 Carlos Place in December of that year. It was an immediate success, taking some substantial commissions and trading well for Christmas. We followed it with a second pop-up in mid to late 2013, and then moved into our 2,000 square foot showroom on North Row in mid 2014. We now work with over 100 craft-makers with a span of product from jewellery, through to textiles and tableware to furniture, selling online, through our own retail and to interior designers and architects across the world What has been your biggest success?

Doing it right. We are a small business but have attracted some amazing partners (Burberry, Selfridges and Kit Kemp to name just three) and some amazing clients.

What project are you most excited about right now?

We are about to re-platform our website.

That will have a major impact on the growth of the company.

How has being a member of The Clubhouse contributed to the success of your business?

It gave us a fabulous home (we took six memberships), it is close to the shop (eight minutes’ walk – 34 North Row, just off North Audley Street) and enabled us to grow fast very comfortably. We can run team meetings big and small here; The Clubhouse staff are brilliant – so smart and helpful; it has really been a super experience.

Where can members find you?

I mainly work out of The Clubhouse Mayfair but occasionally I visit St James’s.
