Library POLICY


AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
At City International School DUBAI, School library provides academic support keeping in mind the literacy goals of the school. It aims at providing “Right BOOK to the Right USER at a Right TIME”.
The library collaborates with academic faculty in procuring the desired resources selected by the head of the department and the section head. It provides learning and teaching from a global perspective to help the students to be lifelong learners.
The library fosters the enjoyment of reading as a recreational activity by always providing a conducive & pleasant environment
The library provides opportunities to the students with wide variety of resources online and offline and endeavors them to be and independently access it, so they continue to be a lifelong learner.
LIBRARY POLICY & PROCEDURES
• To provide STUDENTS with a wide range of resources by issuing two books for 7 days.
• Staff can borrow 5 textbooks and 1 (fiction and non-fiction) for 2 weeks and then it can be renewed upon request.
• No Eating and drinking allowed in the library.
• Books that are listed in the catalogue maintained in the ERP are available for borrowing only.
• Reference books, Magazine, and newspaper to be strictly accessed in the library itself, no borrowing is allowed by the students.
• Reference books can be borrowed by the faculty only on FRIDAYS and returned the consecutive Monday without fail.
• SILENCE SHOULD BE OBSERVED AT ALL THE TIME IN THE LIBRARY.
• OPEN ACCESS SYSTEM is followed in the library.
• Books are arranged under Dewey Decimal classification as its universal system.
• Students and Faculty are expected to always carry their ID CARDS while visiting the library.
• Students can borrow the books during LIBRARY SESSIONS only, if the student desires to return or renew the book only on FRIDAYS between 8.05am to 8.45am.
• LOST or DAMAGED books should be replaced by the student and faculty.
• A fine of 5/-AED will be levied if the students fail to return the book on time.
• Reservations for the desired books can be made at the Circulation Desk and will be intimated by the Librarian once it is available.
• Students are expected to carry the “READING LOG” during all the library sessions failing which the books will not be issued.

• Library resources are not allowed to be transferred to others without intimating the librarian, the loss of it will be borne by the user who has borrowed as per the library record.
• TABS and Laptops can be brought by the students to for reading online Digital Reading Platform provided by the school.
• Loss of tabs and laptops will be solely the responsibility of user only.
• MOBILE PHONE HEADPHOES AND LISTENING TO AUDIO IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED.
• EXIT Passes should be carried by the student while visiting Medical or washroom during the library session.
