Spring school bazaar in Russell

RUSSELL — Russell Public School hosts a Spring Bazaar on Sat., April 23, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 14 Mill Street. The event features local vendors and artisans, a used book sale, canteen, kids’ crafts and face painting and a silent auction. Admission is free.

Chilli cookoff for refugee cause CRYSLER — The Great Crysler Chilli Cookoff heats up this Sat., April 16 — 5 to 7 p.m. at the Crysler Community Centre — in support of the Crysler Refugee Support Project. All chilli, including vegetarian options, are welcome and encouraged. Entries will be anonymous, and if your recipe includes allergens, please advise at time of registration. Seniors’ cockfighting ring busted Nelson Zandbergen Record Staff MOOSE CREEK — Spurred by a report of illegal gaming activity, the SD&G OPP broke up a cockfighting ring and arrested 11 men on the spot, many of them approaching or well into their senior years. Eighty-two-year-old Gerald Tessier of South Stormont was charged with keeping a cockpit in connection with the incident at a Tolmies Corners Road property on April 9.
