Our food programs continue to be pushed to the limit. During the summer months, when school is not in session, families with children who rely on free breakfast and lunch are especially at risk. We are seeing new families at our Main Street Pantry and continue to receive increasing requests for home deliveries. According to the Greater Boston Food Bank’s annual Food Access Report, 37% of Massachusetts households faced food insecurity in 2024, rising from 34% in 2023.

Program Updates

Nearly 1 in 3 teens can’t afford monthly menstrual products*. It can lead to missed school days and lower academic performance. TCG led a volunteer effort to make monthly care kits available at our food pantry at Brockton High School. Thanks to volunteers including MNA nurses from Brockton Hospital, Empower Nutrition, The Mary Bielecki Foundation, and ADK sorority sisters MU chapter, we have provided more than 500 care kits!

Seeds of Change

For the fourth year, The Charity Guild was the beneficiary of the Temple Chayai Shalom Shovel Town 5k Race! Thank you to Teresa and Adam Kempner and the entire race crew!

Through the Brockton Rotary Interact Club, students at New Heights Charter School learned about food insecurity and painted pots for seedlings to be given to senior citizens with our home delivery

program. Rotary Club members later packaged the planters during the Rotary Day of Service, one of the largest volunteer events ever hosted at The Guild!

Mother’s Day Gifting

150 second-grade students at the Baker School selected gifts with love for their special someone. This annual event was created by former board member Geraldine Creedon and this year, we

remembered and honored Brenda Smith Burke, who also adored participating in the event each year. Both women are forever in our hearts.

Special guests and volunteers included event chair Diane Prince, Baker School Principal Werb, Superintendent Priya Tahiliani, Clerk of Courts Robert S. Creedon Jr., Plymouth County Commissioner Greg Hanley, Julie Blanchard (Brenda Smith Burke’s daughter), Margaret Mone,
