Executive Director’s Report As I reflect on 2020 The Chamber and our business community has so much to be proud of. January was a great month with a very successful Career Expo event held at Lakeshore Technical College. We served over 900 sophomore students from Manitowoc County with jam-packed day of career exploration. We had over 50 different volunteers step forth to offer information about their respective career and potential job opportunities in Manitowoc County. The month of February arrived quickly and Tuesday the 11th was historical day for The Chamber. We took our traditional Annual Dinner and Meeting and created our inaugural Awards of Distinction. The Capitol Civic Centre proved to be the perfect venue allowing for a wonderful reception with food stations provided by Vue’s Thai Restaurant, Courthouse Pub and French Creek Bakery. The program itself became a Karen Nichols Executive Director beautifully orchestrated show thanks to the talented staff and volunteers of the CCC. We had the pleasure of honoring the many business and organizations nominated for the various awards with an audience of over 450 people. It was a night to remember! March then rolled in with unexpected challenges like we have never experienced before: COVID-19. Like all other businesses The Chamber worked swiftly to re-invent all our programs and services. We quickly became experts in the use of new technologies to continue to interact and offer educational webinars to help guide our members through this unchartered territory. As we worked to meet the demand for information, throughout the next six months we were able to offer over 45 educational webinars. Our member healthcare providers, financial institutions, tax and accounting services, legal consultants and public officials offered a wealth of information and for that we are very grateful. In early summer, Board Member Dave Wage, Formrite Companies came forth with the idea to develop a COVID19 relief fund. We worked swiftly over the next six weeks to create a grant opportunity to assist our businesses and non-profit organizations weather this financial storm. A huge thank you goes out to our financial contributors and partners: City of Manitowoc, Manitowoc Public Utilities, City of Two Rivers, Two Rivers Public Utilities, Bank First, Investors Community Bank, The West Foundation, Formrite Company, UnitedOne Credit Union, Cher-Make Sausage Company and donors through the Lakeshore Community Foundation. In addition, thank you to my fellow committee members Dave Wage, Scott McMeans, Dennis Tienor, Tim Schneider, Nilaksh Kothari, Mayor Justin Nickels, Adam Tegan, City Manager Greg Buckley, Elizabeth Runge, and Andy Steimle.. This relief fund assisted over 120 businesses and more than 20 non-profit agencies. The fall of the year brought more educational events and some amazing work being done to support our local businesses through targeted marketing efforts to maximize our, “Keep It Local” efforts. We thank the community for embracing our Chamber Bucks program and keeping over $400,000 right here within our community. Thank you for your continued support of The Chamber of Manitowoc County and I look forward to community health and prosperity for 2021. Gratefully, Karen Nichols

Chamber Board Chairperson’s Report As we turn the page to 2021, I’d like to take a brief moment and reflect on 2020. Specifically, I want to remember 2020 for the amazing stories in our community that demonstrated huge acts of kindness, tremendous generosity, a ton of adaptability and ingenuity, and great perseverance. While it is certainly easy to dwell on the challenges of 2020, I am very proud of how our families, friends, neighbors, and community came together to make the very best of our situation. I’m proud to call Manitowoc home and I hope you carry that same feeling into 2021.

Chad Zeller Chair

With much of 2021 ahead of us, I encourage everyone to stay positive and keep the faith. A vaccine is coming and soon enough we will social gather once again. In the meantime, please remember our local businesses and support them as much as you can. Remember, a little bit can go a long way.

Lastly, as the Board Chair for 2021, I promise you that the Board of Directors will continue to keep the Chamber’s mission top of mind which is to provide resources and services to promote a healthy and prosperous business environment. We welcome your thoughts and ideas on how we can better serve the businesses in Manitowoc County. So please, stay in touch with us and let us know how we are doing. Thank you so much and have a great 2021! Chad Zeller

Chamber Treasurer’s Report The Chamber Staff and Board of Directors are proud to say that The Chamber of Manitowoc County experienced a strong fiscal year in 2020, despite the pandemic. This year, more than ever before, we could not make this statement without giving credit to our loyal members. 

We maintain solid cash reserves, having over 6 months of expenses available in our cash reserves.

Our net income was higher than what we projected. We had another banner year for Chamber Bucks sales and we are so thankful for your continued support of that program! In addition, our 2020 Awards of Distinction was an even greater success than we anticipated.

Expenses were closely monitored this year. Due to events being cancelled, or moved to virtual platforms, and reduced staff hours, we ended the year significantly under budget overall.

We truly do appreciate everything our members do to support our success as a Chamber. We’re looking forward to being able to see you in person during 2021! Amanda Sitkiewitz

Thank you to our mask sponsor, Engaged Marketing Co., for providing masks for all the attendees!
