THE INTO THE BREACH THEATRE COMPANY AT THE COUNTRY DAY SCHOOL presents NOVEMBER 14-16, 2024

DIRECTOR’S NOTE
I’m so thrilled to welcome you to our production of Peter and the Starcatcher. This story holds a special place in my heart, and I can’t wait to share it with you. Growing up, I was captivated by the magic of Peter Pan in the movie Hook. Also the magic of books and films has always been a huge part of my life, shaping the way I see the world and inspiring my love for storytelling.
As you watch this production, I hope you’ll experience the same sense of wonder that I felt as a child. Peter and the Starcatcher is not just a story about the origins of Peter Pan; it’s a celebration of imagination, friendship, and the power of storytelling. In this play we embrace the artform of “Story Theatre” which is a unique theatrical form that emphasizes the act of storytelling itself, blending narration with dramatic action. It’s a style where the performers take on multiple roles, including narrators, characters, and sometimes even environmental elements, breaking the traditional “fourth wall” to engage directly with the audience. “Story Theatre” brings the story alive and imagination knows no bounds. It’s a beautiful reminder of the power of stories to connect us, to make us laugh, and to make us feel.
I am incredibly proud of our cast and crew. You’ll see their passion shine through in every moment of this performance. You’ll see our characters navigate challenges, discover friendships, and embrace the magic of possibility. Throughout rehearsals, the students have demonstrated remarkable creativity and positive energy. They’ve supported each other throughout this journey and became a true collaborative community!
It has been a pleasure working with these students and the remarkable production team that helped put the show together. I encourage you to immerse yourself in this experience. Let your imagination run wild as you engage with the characters and their journeys. Feel free to laugh, cheer, and even reflect on your own childhood adventures. This performance is for you, and I hope it sparks a little magic in your own heart.
Thank you for joining us on this adventure. So, sit back, relax, and let the magic of storytelling whisk you away!
