In a student-centered event where numerous student-athletes anticipate in joining the court to bring honor and pride to their respective colleges while campus journalists aim to provide timely update have been blinded by the unfocused and flickering wave of decisions by the higher-ups, it then creates a disorganized structure akin to a dotted line with gaps in between making it harder for everyone to navigate a darkened court amidst the stormy weather
Recently, the three-day event of the 58th University-wide Intramurals has concluded, starting officially from November 14 and ending on November 16 Originally dated in October, it was postponed twice due to the delays in the procurement of sports equipment and consecutive unstable weather that hit the country making it a long overdue event. In light of this, a prior restructuring of the governing body has unfolded wherein the University Intramurals Board (UIB) of last year’s intramurals has been dissolved resulting in the involvement of student representatives being limited and seems to only appoint the USSC Chairperson as an ex-officio member to pacify the outcries of student body regarding their involvement or the lack thereof
While we know that Sports Development Council (SDC) and Sports Development Office (SDO) supposedly acted out that way because of the overlapping functions stated in the Student Handbook ‘24-’25, it still didn’t help that they made an anti-student move as they barred the student body who knows their constituents’ needs best from being part of the decisionmaking process. It’s ironic to think that the focal point of this event, which are the students, are the ones being kept at arm’s length when they should have been the most involved from the very start
As a result, there was no one who voiced out the needs of the student athletes and the anchored preparations during the meetings; schedules became skewed as Sports Development Office (SDO) fail to finalized official scheduling games even though the supposed official date of the intramurals became nearer, making everyone lose sight and grope at nothing in the dark Even after the second postponement of this awaited event, nothing has been officialized in concrete and only disseminating the information to colleges in the last minutes using screenshotted programs
You would think that an almost one month delay of intramurals will give the higher-ups the ample time to prepare in giving light throughout the games and yet, they are the ones themselves that kill it
With that being said, I hope that this will not be a repeated situation for next year’s intramurals where student participation is close to nothing and I hope that the offices involved would not make such a movement that would continuously darken the court for everyone, especially for the students

ICHASING GLORY:
The Highs and Lows of CBA Men’s Volleyball Team

n a court of expectations, with a louder shout for tighter combat, can you define the right formula for back-to back winning? And at the end winning? And at the end, to what extent can a person define the word “winning“?
ISame semester last year, with its outstanding performance, the College of Business and Accountancy Men’s Volleyball team holds the championship title during the university-wide intramurals. Setting high expectations and pressure for this year’s team to defend the title and once again, be the ruler of the volleyball’s court.
With this evident inherent pressure, current's team reinforced a wiser plan and stricter execution process to ensure that their goal will be achieved Turning the pressure into a beautiful inspiration, it fueled their determination to practice despite the conflict of schedule, changes of scheduled date of the game, and other commitments of the team members that limited the number of their practice, ensuring that efficiency falls as an outcome of every meeting.
Jumping into the game proper, the CBA Men’s volleyball team shows an unwavering commitment to fulfill their ultimate goal. And as the opponent team has their own goal, every game seems to be extra challenging for them.
“Inside the court and during every game, we always had difficulty starting fiercely, resulting in either a loss or a close early game," Payumo said as he illustrated the challenges they’ve encountered
early game," Payumo said as he illustrated the challenges they’ve encountered during the game.
But as a team that stands as one, they manage to pull together by saying to each other, “Kaya mo! Ilaban mo! Tapang lang tayo, kahit anong mangyari paluin nyo, nakacover kami sa inyo", affirming that they’ve also got one another’s back and that they will fight as one till the end.
And of course, with their captain's words of inspiration and composure inside the court and their coach's guidance and words of encouragement to keep the team going, they all give their best to own the championship title.
Even though at the end the CBA Men’s Volleyball team did not succeed in defending their title. Changing a warm congratulations to opponents is what they only showed inside the court. A proof of their professionalism and fairness. Showing that what’s most important is they fought a good fight and they gave their all for this semester’s intramurals.
With the loud cheer for them from the college, the bonds they build all throughout their journey, and the urge to claim the title next year, the team realizes that winning isn’t always defined by having the crown or title but also by the lessons they’ve learned along the way. It does not always come from the medals or trophies but from the cheer of those who stand for you no matter what.

A VALIANT FIGHT: THE CBA WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL TEAM'S INTRAMURALS JOURNEY
The CBA Women's Volleyball Team faced numerous challenges as they prepared for the 58th University Intramurals: assigned work loads, train of typhoons, and top it all with nail-biting time-restraint. Thus, despite the obstacles, the team exhibited unwavering determination and fought with all their might with the eagerness to step up in sight.
Time was a significant hurdle for the team, as their diverse schedules, hit-or-miss weather conditions, and limited court availability made it difficult to coordinate practice sessions; the team often resorted to late-night practices to accommodate their commitments.
Reflecting on the team's performance, the team acknowledged the importance of thorough preparation. Mx. Espiritu expressed regret that the effect of the team's limited practice time and guidance overshadowed the team's impressive progress.
"Ang naging lessons samin this intrams is the importance of having enough time of training. Surely, pag natutukan kami ng todo and may trainer din kami ganun, baka kaya na namin manalo." - Liea Charylle Espiritu
Despite the outcome, the captain expressed gratitude to the college for their support, especially to Coach Aileen for her selfless guidance, showing up despite feeling unwell. She also thanked her teammates for their dedication and camaraderie throughout their final year together and promised that the commitment the team's showcased will forever be treasured.
"Kapag time na nila uli maglaro, kami naman [mga ate] ang tutulong at susuporta sa kanila." - Liea Charylle Espiritu
While the CBA Women's Volleyball Team's journey in the 58th University Intramurals has concluded, their efforts and determination will not be forgotten. Hurdles and challenges are just a crossroads for the person who truly committed; resolutely won everything and lost nothing.
