Make Way for Lucia

Emma Woodhouse is handsome, clever and rich. She’s also a meddler.

After her governess marries (with Emma’s help of course) it is clear that Miss Woodhouse must become a matchmaker. But as her interfering gets out of hand, it may be time for Emma to question her judgement.

Can she untangle the web she’s spun?

And what does she truly know of her own heart?

NC Jazz welcomes the return of Threeway to The Castle this evening, a jazz trio with a difference. Ben Crosland, an experienced composer and bandleader, formed Threeway with Steve Waterman on trumpet and flugelhorn, and Steve Lodder on piano and keyboard, two long term associates. The variety of the original compositions contributed by the three musicians and the interplay between them creates many different tone colours in a satisfying and well-rounded performance.

As the 18th century advanced, composers began to relish the lyrical, expressive possibilities of the cello. No longer shackled to the bass line, the cello at last found its voice.

Bach and Vivaldi (as well as Lanzetti and Boccherini - themselves both cellists) all composed exhilarating virtuoso music for the instrument.

The Human Zoo

GIANT Tommy lives under the same roof as three generations of his family. If you ignore the strange things his Nan says over dinner, and the bizarre rumblings coming from the attic, you could say he’s lived a pretty comfortable life.

The pupils of Michelle Gibbs Academy are delighted to perform their ballet, modern, tap, jazz, lyrical, street, musical theatre dances and drama pieces for you. Performers are aged from 2 years to adults.

Hamlet has the world at his feet. Young, wealthy and living a hedonistic life studying abroad.

Then word reaches him that his father is dead. Returning home he finds his world is utterly changed and his home a foreign land. RARE Productions, the UK’s largest youth musical theatre company, present a wonderful adaption of the timeless tale by JM Barrie, with music by George Styles and lyrics

by Anthony Drewe. In the Darling House in Bloomsbury, Mr and Mrs Darling reluctantly prepare to go out for the evening, leaving their children in the care of Lisa, the maid, and Nana, a Newfoundland dog. As silence descends, Tinkerbell, a mischievous fairy, and Peter Pan, a boy who never grew up, fly into the nursery. Peter invites Wendy and her brothers to fly back to Never Land with him and, with a sprinkling of fairy dust, away they all go.

JS Bach and the Violin Baroque violinist Kerstin Linder-Dewan has performed in many of the world’s great concert halls. A star Fiori Musicali performer, and prize winner in the International Locatelli Competition, Kerstin has recorded concertos by JS Bach with Fiori and delights audiences with her sensitivity and virtuosity.

At her happiest performing the music of her countryman JS Bach, Kerstin reveals her love of this music with Fiori’s director, harpsichordist Penelope Rapson.

A new musical by the writers of A Christmas Carol, Ben Frost and Richard Hough

There is a town in the middle of a forest, in the centre of a fairy tale, in the heart of our imaginations. It is a town out of touch and out of time, where nothing has changed for hundreds of years. The people are unhappy, stuck in the same routine; they wish desperately for change and new ideas. This Christmas, their wishes will be granted.

Castle Young Company Update This January The Castle launched their first young company for 16-23 year olds. After auditioning over 20 people, 9 were chosen to be part of this exciting opportunity. They are currently in the process of developing their company identity and will be devising a show to take to this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. The only joint IML/IVV walking event in the UK Choices of 5,10,15,25 and 42km routes, on Saturday and Sunday, for walkers across fields, footpaths, and roads visiting local villages.

WATSON: In 2014, the company started to explore the concept of transforming a Sherlock Holmes story, The Empty House. Through a period of R&D, C-12 managed to bring in an internationally acclaimed creative team of individuals and specialists to re-imagine a live performance experience. The production will go through a second R&D phase at The Castle. Both C-12 and The Castle share similar interests in engaging new audiences and Watson is something very new within the performance context which will aim to those interested in live music, digital technology and contemporary dance. The Castle will be supporting this next phase, which will finalise the full story, with intimate details, and start to physicalise elements of this production.

The FOCUS collection of images represents the work of local school pupils who have used digital photography as both a means of gaining a different perspective on their surroundings and how they interact with them, as well as providing a renewed FOCUS on what inspires them as individuals.

Five local art classes – from Sywell, Wellingborough and Burton Latimer - join together to showcase their artwork. All the featured artists are amateur and for some this will be the first time that they have exhibited their work. Together, they have varied amounts of experience in painting and drawing; some have painted for several years whilst a few have only just begun their artistic journeys.

This popular club, founded in 1950, presents its annual photographic exhibition for all of Wellingborough to enjoy. Open to all camera enthusiasts, the club promotes the appreciation of all areas of photography aiming to bring together all those interested in this great hobby.

Exhibits include: local places of interest, wildlife, landscapes, macro and abstracts.

The exhibition shows a huge diversity of stylistic approach and encompasses all manner of painting and drawing in every type of media.

We accept cash, credit/debit cards, cheque, postal orders, and National Theatre tokens (Please note: National Theatre tokens can only be accepted in person). There is a £1.50 booking fee levied on all bookings except for those paid in cash, in person at the Box Office; this is one fee per booking, not per ticket. The booking fee is not levied on classes.

Reservations, Re-sales and Refunds

Ticket reservations are held for three working days, or until 24 hours before the start of the show if that’s sooner. All tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangable except when an event is cancelled.

We can accept your tickets for resale, however The Castle’s own unsold tickets take priority.

A charge of £1 per ticket (to a maximum of £5) will be charged for tickets resold on your behalf.

Selected shows offer all or some of the following concessions with valid ID; Under 18s, Full Time Students, Over 60s, Job Seekers & Disabled Patrons.
