SHAWN BERNIER

ADIANEZ CABRAL Shawn Bernier joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO Program and continued to participate as a senior at Wayland High School.

Shawn is attending Wheaton College where he plans to study business and major in economics.

NICOLAS BUSSE

Adianez Cabral joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO Program and continued to participate as a senior at Wayland High School.

Adianez is attending the Boston Career Institute where she will train to become a dental hygienist.

KAM’RHAN CARTER Nicolas Busse joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued to participate as a senior at Bedford High School.

Nicolas trained to become a peer teacher and after completing the 11th grade passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL 47) for middle school math. Nicolas will study mechanical engineering at Penn State.

Kam’Rhan Carter joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued participating into his senior year at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science. Kam’Rhan worked as a peer tutor in the program and plans to study electrical engineering at UMass Dartmouth.

KYRA COOPER

CANDACE ELLS Kyra Cooper joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO Program and continued to participate during her senior year at Lexington High School.

She will attend Suffolk University where she plans to major in Global Business and Management.

JAHZEEL EDEY

Candace Ells joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued participating into her senior year at TechBoston Academy. Candace received a scholarship to attend Lesley University where she plans to double major in Health Science and Mathematics. Candace also received the Urban Scholars Initiative scholarship and the Love Scholarship from TechBoston Academy.

MICHEKA FENELON Jahzeel Edey joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued to participate as a senior at Bedford High School.

Jahzeel trained to become a peer teacher and after completing the 11th grade passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL 47) for middle school math. Jahzeel was inducted into the National Honor Society and plans to study engineering at Northeastern University.

Micheka Fenelon joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued to participate into her senior year at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science. Micheka received a scholarship to attend Bowdoin where she plans to earn a degree in Biomedical Science before applying to medical school.

ALLYSHA FORDE

BRENDAN JONES Allysha Forde joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO program and continued participating into her senior year at Lynnfield High School.

Allysha is pursuing a degree in engineering at Wentworth Institute of Technology.

NAOIMI HARRIS

Brendan Jones joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued to participate as a senior at Bedford High School. Brendan worked as a peer tutor and plans to take a gap year before majoring in Biology.

DAVID LOPES Naoimi Harris joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO Program and continued to participate during her senior year at Lexington High School. She will attend Suffolk University where she plans to major in Psychology.

David Lopes joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO Program and continued participating into his senior year at Arlington High School.

David worked as a peer tutor this summer and will attend Bucknell with a scholarship from the Posse Foundation.

MATTHEW MCMILLIAN

MATIAS OU Matthew McMillian joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued to participate as a senior at Bedford High School. Matthew trained to become a peer teacher and after completing the 11th grade passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL 47) for middle school math. Matthew will attend UMass Amherst where he plans to obtain a degree in mathematics and become a teacher.

BARIMAH OKYERE

Matias Ou joined TCPLA as an 8th grader and continued to participate as a senior at Bedford High School.

Matias trained to become a peer teacher and after completing the 11th grade, passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL 47) for middle school math. Matias was accepted to Boston University early decision and plans to major in economics.

JONATHAN PIERRE Barimah Okyere joined TCPLA as a 10th grader and continued participating into his senior year at Cristo Rey High School (Boston). He also worked as a peer tutor in TCPLA. Barimah received a full-scholarship to pursue a degree in engineering at Northeastern University.

Jonathan Pierre joined TCPLA as an 8th grader in the METCO Program and continued participating into his senior year at Bedford High School. Jonathan trained to become a peer teacher and after completing the 11th grade, passed the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL 47) for middle school math. He served as class president during his junior and senior year, and was the first METCO student in school history to lead a senior class. Jonathan also served as president of the National Honor Society. Additionally, he was accepted into the QuestBridge National College Match Program, which led to a full scholarship to Yale University where he’ll study Economics and Math.

ALEA TURNER Alea Turner joined The Calculus Project and Leadership Academy (TCPLA) as an 8th grader in the METCO program and continued participating into her senior year at Lexington High School. Alea is pursuing a degree in nursing at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy.

LOREN VANEGAS Loren Vanegas joined TCPLA as a 10th grader at Cristo Rey High School (Boston) and continued to participate as a senior. She also worked as a peer tutor helping 7th and 8th grade English Language Learner (ELL) students learn math . Loren received a scholarship to attend Georgetown University where she plans to major in Criminal Justice.
