The PRESIDENT’S OUTBOX

T

ime flies too fast. We are more than halfway through the year. From the start, we have set our goals and directions anchored on our vision. The targets we have set are remarkably ambitious yet attainable. I know each of you is crafting your strategies to help us achieve the targets we have set for this academic year. I am deeply grateful and appreciative of all your tireless efforts and heartfelt services that most often go beyond the call of your immediate duty. We may not have gotten yet everything we wanted and envisioned as of the moment. But our journey towards strengthening our status as a world-class university is far from finished. We are just at the beginning. It is quite a long and oftentimes tedious journey towards the attainment of our dreams. But I encourage everyone to stay on course. Little by little, inch by inch, with hands clasped in prayer and arms linked together ready for determined service and sustained passion, we will overcome every obstacle that may come our way. Let us equip each other with the rays of positivity. Let us choose to see our situation as a glass halffilled; never half-empty. Be positive and keep a healthy dose of humor always ready for moments when you find yourself at wit’s end and your patience is tested. Harry S. Truman once explained the difference between a pessimist and an optimist. He said “a pessimist is one who makes difficulties of his opportunities and an optimist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties” My dear Bicol University family, let us keep on making opportunities out of whatever difficulties we may encounter as we continue our quest for a world-class university status. Thank you for continuously keeping the faith that the best is yet to come!
