PRESIDENT’S OUTBOX

Friends, for the past two Charter Day celebrations, I was not around because of the schedules that overlapped with the celebration. But this year, I just cannot afford to miss this occasion in the life of our Bicol University family. I really have to be here and be with all of you because today is the day out of the many days that we should all be happy and celebrate. Today we celebrate half a century of lives lived for and in behalf of every Bicolano scholar, their families and friends who passed through pillars of Scholarship, Leadership, Character, and Service in Bicol University. The seed that was planted and germinated through Republic Act 5521 which our three founding fathers have painstakingly achieved – giving birth to Bicol University, has now in its history a glorious past, a vibrant present, and a promising future. Grounded on the sacrifices, innovative minds, hard work, and perseverance of the countless men and women workers under the guidance and leadership of the seven administrations responsible for instituting milestones where this moment has been founded. As we celebrate, we look back with thanksgiving, joy, and pride as we ask ourselves, “What is worth celebrating on this Charter Day of Bicol University?” What have we achieved so far? What are the visible signs of Bicol University’s golden moments? After 50 years, is there a lot to love and celebrate in Bicol University? I think so. After 50 years, there is a lot of positivity in the air worthy indeed of a jubilant celebration. | P7 Pres Outbox Feature

This year’s NATCONGEE was aimed at gathering geoscientists from all over the country to present and discuss their most recent findings and to create cooperation and collaboration among academic institutions for the improvement of the Geodetic Engineering (GE) education. It was the consortium of University of the Philippines –Diliman (UPD) and the state universities and colleges (SUCs) in the Philippines that offers the Bachelor of Science in Geodetic Engineering (BSGE) program, which turned over the hosting of the 2019 NATCONGEE to Bicol University College of Engineering’s (BUCEng) Geodetic Engineering Department. The event was attended by 49 participants, coming from 18 colleges and universities nationwide. The 2019 NATCONGEE has been reinforced by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) for the presentation of
