Core prefers to use its own trades rather than hire contractors, as this creates greater responsiveness to the different needs of projects, delivers a speedier result and saves on costs for clients. The company is also involved in the project design phase, although in some cases clients may prefer to use their own designers. Darren states that a vast majority of Core's business is repeat business. This in itself is a great testimonial for the company, and is testament to the dedication to each individual and their project, which reassures clients of the commitment to quality and realising their dream. Sustainable projects Core aims for sustainability in the projects it undertakes. By incorporating good design,
correct building orientation and the right materials into a new home or renovation from the start of a project, it's possible to substantially reduce heating, cooling, and lighting costs without construction necessarily being more expensive for the client. Options for sustainability include water recycling, thermal mass, passive cooling, good insulation, double glazing, natural ventilation, energy efficient lighting, and increased use of natural light. The company is also committed to the efficient use of materials and reduced waste. In fact, Darren and Rhonda built their own house, which achieved an eight-star energy rating, in a matter of months. Into the future While Darren is keen for the business to grow, essentially he sees the company continuing in the same vein as now, prioritising the personal interaction with clients by limiting the number of projects Core takes on each year. He hopes to continue building great partnerships and client relationships, and providing the same level of quality and sustainability that he does currently, well into the decades ahead.
