These designs are highly functional, cost-effective and builder-friendly, incorporating methods of construction that take advantage of local trades, skills and materials. Designs are based on maximizing the flexibility and speed of construction of lightweight building methods and utilize steel-framed walls and timber truss roofs clad in corrugated iron. A strong focus was kept on the traditional concepts of shelter and shade, while the use of louvers’ and breezeways to allow cross-ventilation and airflow was of particular importance.
