Natural honey in colour. On the nose, orange, apple and dried fruit notes highlight a vibrant and rich aroma. Vanilla, toffee and chocolate underlay oak overtones. The palate is meandering, warming, wood spices; takes time to open up and reveal nutmeg, cinnamon, hints of dried ginger and toffee. The fruit appears later – fresh and balanced with fresh oak.

Tapena Verdejo 2013, Vino de La Tierra Castilla La Mancha, Spain Verdejo (ver-DAY-ho) is the Spanish answer to Sauvignon Blanc with a hint more floral aromas. Verdejo is known to come from several regions across Spain ranging from Rueda to Tierra de Castilla. This varietal has been written about by wine writers from Robert Parker to Hugh Johnson as the next hot white known for good value for money. This pale yellow hued wine has a vibrant nose with an array of aromas of tropical fruits over a backdrop of ripe peaches. The palate is full of bright stone fruit that is beautifully balanced with a crisp, refreshing acidity and a lingering finish with a hint of minerality. Pairs well with many different dishes. Try it with grilled salmon, lemon chicken, creamy lighter cheeses such as goat cheese or a fresh summer salad.
Tapena Tempranillo 2013, Spain This quintessential red wine grape from Spain, Tempranillo, the little early one, adapts well to varied growing conditions. We think of Tempranillo as Pinot Noir in blue jeans. Intense ruby red in colour along with violet-blue undertones which characterise this wine youth. This classic Tempranillo holds juicy red fruit aromas with just a touch of chocolate. On the palate, you will find ripe red fruit flavours with a soft and silky finish carrying supple tannins and great length. Combines beautifully with roast or grilled red meats in addition to a multitude of different tapas, from grilled kebabs to garlic prawns.
