editor’s note Have you noticed something different about us? No, it’s not the hair. It is, however, the magazine equivalent of the hair, the dress, the shoes, the… oh, I don’t know, forehead, maybe? Bit of botox, nothing too outlandish. We have a shiny new layout we are quietly confident you will find delightful. Confession: I have a girl crush. Or perhaps it’s a mind crush. Either way, I seriously can’t get enough of author, blogger, all-round amazing woman, Danielle La Porte. In business, she says if what you are doing is not lighting you completely ablaze – not just bright, but positively gazillion-watt blindingly bright – then it’s not for you. And you should walk away. She’s talking about your vocation primarily, but I have been applying this concept to every part of my life. I would challenge you, my dear brides, to do the same in planning your wedding.

The dress should have you feeling as bright as the sun. Your vows, in particular, should leave you feeling like you’re walking onto a 100-metrehigh stage with the brightest spotlight showering you with the warmth of true love. Not in a deer-caught-in-headlights kind of way, more like only-girl-in-the-world style. So take it on, brides. I challenge you to desire to be on fire for your wedding day. I hope we can help you out with this pursuit.

It had been raining non-stop for weeks but the sun came out on Friday and managed to dry out the ground just a little – but I was glad we were wearing boots.

Having my darling horse, Hugo, involved on the day was just amazing. Paul bought me Hugo just before we got engaged and has always said my diamond is the biggest one out there – about half a ton! It was a lot of effort teaching him to be ridden side saddle and in a big white dress, and then to be calm around all the people.
We looked at quite a few venues from Tamborine to Noosa and as soon as we went to Yandina Station we knew this was it. I actually cried while we were looking around because it was perfect!

It’s my job to protect the environment and waste has a huge impact, so I wanted to limit waste wherever possible in my wedding. The decorations were mostly collected jars and bottles that I cleaned up and decorated with string at very little cost. The roses they were filled with were directly from a local rose farm at Yandina, so were inexpensive.

“I was born in Scotland and grew up in Australia, and Gary is Scottish, so we wanted a Scottish themed day. We had everything from kilts to thistles on the cake and a piper at the church. A lot of our guests travelled all the way from the UK.” “All four of our parents ‘gave us away’ at the Wedding rather than just the father of the bride, so when I approached the altar the priest asked, “Who presents this couple?”, and they responded with, “We do.” It was really lovely.”
“We had family shots taken at the Church and then went on to the Twin Waters Golf Course for the bridal party pictures. Emma Nayler, our photographer, was fantastic throughout the day.
“I asked a few of the larger suppliers early on if I could pay off the balance in instalments. I was lucky to have such amazing people who were happy to comply and I paid a weekly amount to each of them! This really helps to ensure that everything is paid for well in advance of your big day.
“We looked for a venue that could do all of the traditional “wedding stuff” for a small group without shoving us in a corner. So we had the dance floor, DJ, cake table, private space and bar, but with a small crowd of 38.”

INTERVIEW
natalie hunter PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP ARTIST, NATALIE HUNTER, HAS TEAMED UP WITH SOME OF THE SUNSHINE COAST’S MOST TALENTED PEOPLE TO CREATE ABSOLUTELY STUNNING IMAGES THAT DEPICT A CELEBRATION OF WOMEN. The Women and Seasons project will eventually result in a printed calendar for 2015 and support a yet-to-be-chosen charity helping women. We had a chat with Natalie about this exciting project and how it curbs her insatiable appetite for creativity and beauty.

INTERVIEW
NATALIE, WHERE DID THE IDEA FOR THE WOMEN AND SEASONS CALENDAR COME FROM? Myself and Robecca, the photographer, are very creative people, and as much as I LOVE weddings I have this other side of my creativity that needs to be free, so we came up with the idea of doing some really arty and creative shoots. HOW DID THE TEAM COME TOGETHER TO CREATE THESE BEAUTIFUL IMAGES? Each shoot has taken a lot of effort and work from all involved. Each of us do the behind the scenes preparation in our own time, such as making the leaves for the autumn shoot and shopping for accessories etcetera. HOW DO YOU COME UP WITH EACH OF THE CONCEPTS? About eight months ago we arranged our models, then had a big brainstorm as to what we could do with each of them, and which model would suit each season. IT MUST TAKE A LOT OF TIME TO EXECUTE EACH SHOOT. WHICH ONE HAS INVOLVED THE MOST PREP SO FAR? Well, the Autumn one was very time-consuming, having to make all the leaves - 300 all up. Then I have to say our summer angels was the longest onset preparation. The wings were made out of wire and each of us, including our models on the day, helped us wire the flowers all around them! They were so amazing, and we gave the wings and flower wreath to our models as a pressie to say thank you.
INTERVIEW
IT LOOKS LIKE YOU GOT REALLY CREATIVE WITH YOUR MAKEUP DESIGNS. WAS IT A LOT OF FUN? I am in my absolute element being able to create beauty. I have so much fun stepping outside the box and playing - thats all it really is, playing! I’m so blessed and grateful to be able to do this for a living.
THE IMAGE OF THE BEAUTIFUL PREGNANT MODEL IS SPECTACULAR! WHY DID YOU WANT TO USE A PREGNANT MODEL? When we had our initial brainstorm, the idea of a pregnant woman popped up for our spring ideas. Spring symbolises new life, so a pregnant woman was perfect for this.
WHY IS CELEBRATING WOMEN SO IMPORTANT TO YOU? I absolutely love working with women, so it was only natural to celebrate how amazingly special, strong and spiritual we all are. So with these shoots, I take great honour and pleasure to make these women look and feel like they are the most special person in the world.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE CALENDAR BE AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE? At this early stage in the project, we are yet to go into all these details, but hopefully we can have them all around the Coast for the year 2015.

AMIE and BRAD ENGAGED AND MARRIED Photography by Matt Rowe Photography
the ENGAGEMENT An engagement photo session gave Amie and Brad a chance to practice being in front of the camera and get nice and comfortable with their photographer, Matt Rowe, before the big day. Amie booked her bridal makeup trial on the same day as their engagement shoot, which is a brilliant idea. This guarantees you will be looking your most spectacular for your loved-up shots, and allows you to see how your makeup translates photographically.
