I have always wanted to be a world champion at something. Turns out I don’t run very fast, I am not strong enough to beat Sylvester Stalone at arm wrestling and I really don’t like getting punched in the face, so the UFC is out. The good news is that my dreams are not completely dead, I can throw an axe. That thing my friends and I did to kill time as a kid has finally been made into a real sport with real championships. In Oklahoma, you can get your axe throwing in at the Oklahoma Axe Factory in Norman. There is something therapeutic about throwing an axe. It’s fun hanging out with people that love their job, and these people are true axe throwing fans. Not only are they pleasant to work with, but they are also good at what they do. I was surprised to find out that the team members at OK AF, (yes that’s their abbreviation and it’s awesome) each has their own named axes. I met Black Beauty, honey badger and a few others. If you decide that you want to take your axe throwing to the next level, you can join the axe throwing leagues that meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays through the WATL, World Axe Throwing League. In fact last year, OK AF sent a pair of competitors to the World Axe Throwing Championship.

Oklahoma Axe Factory was among the many businesses that planned on opening in March of 2020, you know, the month the world came screeching to an abrupt stop.
