Every 10 minutes someone is diagnosed with primary bone cancer. Children like Evelyn. Children who face appallingly low survival rates and traumatic, life-altering treatments.

Evelyn was just ten years old when she was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma.

“Our world changed when we got the diagnosis. We didn’t know what to look forward to, and we felt life as we knew it was over.” - Lisa, Evelyn’s Mum.

Evelyn endured months of gruelling chemotherapy and had an above-knee amputation, which while saving her life has left her with a permanent disability and other complications from her treatment. Evelyn now makes the most of every day, a strong and confident girl with everything to live for.

THE BONE CANCER RESEARCH TRUST

In 2004, a group of families who had lost children and young people to primary bone cancer came together. They wanted to change the fact that they could find no information, support or research being carried out into the disease that took their loved ones. In 2006, they registered the Bone Cancer Research Trust as a charity.

Since then, we have become the go-to charity for everything to do with primary bone cancer. Based in Leeds, we are a local and national beacon of hope for all who face this devastating disease. This is down to the generosity of our wonderful supporters, who have not only helped us to commit over £8 million into research but have also brought hope and comfort to thousands of patients and families along the way.

Together, we’re making a difference. Our Support & Information team is here for anyone who needs us, offering advice, comfort and support through some of the toughest times of people’s lives. And right now, our researchers are working hard to find new, kinder and more effective treatments that give people a better chance of surviving this brutal disease. Every piece of research we’re funding together is getting us closer to our vision of a world where primary bone cancer is cured.

ABOUT THE BONE CANCER BALL

The Bone Cancer Ball is our flagship celebration and fundraising event, attended by up to 700 people from businesses, healthcare organisations and supporters of the charity from across the UK. From the first ‘cheers’ at our sparkling reception to the last dance on the dancefloor – it is a glamorous and uplifting evening of fun and enjoyment for all.

Whilst the dress code is ‘black-tie,’ the ball is known and loved for its joyful, informal atmosphere and an uplifting sense of community. Don’t just take our word for it - see behind the scenes here!

Our guests start their evening with a sparkling reception and a chance to win fabulous raffle prizes. After taking their seats, they’ll be welcomed by the charity in readiness of a 3-course evening meal with complimentary wine. Throughout the evening there will be live entertainment and our ever-popular auction–with some real treats and money-can’t-buy prizes up for grabs! For those still standing, it’s time to hit the dancefloor with our fantastic live band, Manhattan, who will play us late into the night.
