Early Career Teacher Programme
ECTP 2025
Changes for Year 1s from September 2025.
ECT support will now be known as the ECTE. The new Year 1 ECT Programme will now be known as ECTP 25. There will be detailed inductions/orientations for all ECTs, Mentors and Induction Tutors on Steplab. Registrations open now for new ECTs: DfE Portal link here.
The main difference is relating to Year 1. There will be fortnightly self-study in Year 1 and 2 for ECTs. They will still have weekly coaching, but it will be Instructional Coaching in the first week and then either Pastoral OR Instructional Coaching in the second week. Both must be logged to count as enagement.

TERM 1
Mentor conference 1
This session covers essentials for mentors' and ECTs' success. It includes:
An overview of the ITTECF and Ambition Institute’s high-quality training Research and best practices shaping the ECT programme, including the science of learning and instructional coaching benefits.
A detailed look at the instructional coaching model, its importance for mentoring, and its use in performance and task-based modelling Mentors will practise each stage and receive feedback.
TERM 2
Mentor conference 2
Building on mentor conference 1, this session helps mentors enhance their instructional coaching by adapting to ECTs’ growing expertise. It covers: Research on flexible knowledge and adaptive expertise.
Strategies for adapting the coaching model to support ECTs. Mentors will practise these strategies and receive feedback
TERM 3
Clinic
Building on mentor conference 2, this session helps mentors understand adaptive expertise and introduces a new strategy they can use. Mentors will practise and receive feedback on this strategy. There are three clinic options, each focusing on a different strategy. Facilitators will choose the most appropriate strategy for the session.
Optional and additional support
Mentoring and coaching development area
An optional online self-study course for mentors focuses on instructional coaching and their interests Modules enhance knowledge, offer targeted practice, and cover the mentor's role in ITTECF.
Coaching for mentors
Delivery partners can offer additional support sessions for mentors to receive tailored practice and feedback on instructional coaching. Sessions focus on areas of need in mentoring practice, prioritising effective modelling and practice.

NPQs Latest News
Autumn 2025 Cohorts
DfE is yet to confirmed scholarship funding for Autumn 2025 cohorts of NPQs.
For the next round of NPQs, planned for November 2025, we plan to offer both Ambition and Best Practice NPQs.
Ambition Institute NPQs
Ambition has opened pre-registrations for November NPQs. Anyone wishing to express an interest please go to the Ambition Institute website , select the NPQ you are interested in (towards the bottom of the page), and complete their pre-registration form. For the Delivery Partner, please select London District East Teaching School Hub.
Ambition will forward your details to us.
As soon as the DfE release further details of timings, and funding, we will be in touch to complete your pre-registration for your chosen NPQ.

We have now closed recruitment for September 2025
We have around 60 trainees starting with us in September at a range of incredible partner schools across East London.
Around 30 are in secondary shortage subjects, with others in the remaining secondary subjects and across the primary phases.
We will open recruitment for 26-27 on October 2025.

POST-16 GCSE/FSQ MASTERY SPECIALIST
ELIGIBILITY: FOR EXPERIENCED (2+ YEARS) POST-16 GCSE/FSQ MATHS TEACHERS REGULARLY TEACHING STUDENTS AGED 16–19.
COMMITMENT: 15 DAYS RELEASE TIME IN YEAR ONE AND 15 DAYS RELEASE TIME IN YEAR TWO TOTAL FUNDING £6000.
