Have you been wanting to build your own Adirondack chair but you don't know how to do it? Well, this step by step guide will help you create a majestic and comfortable chair for your outdoor space with the use of an old pallet. Generally, a standard wooden shipping pallet measures 5 inches tall, 40 inches wide, and 48 inches long. Its slats are around 4 inches wide.

Pry bar Power drill Nuts and Bolts Hammer Wrench Screws Miter saw Sandpaper Tape measure Paint or varnish

What you will have to do: 1. The first thing you should do is to disassemble the pallet using a hammer or a pry bar. You would also need to remove all the nails from the pallet. Once you are done disassembling, you will have sixteen 40 inches slats and two 48 inches long pieces.

2. With the help of a tape measure, take a 14 inches measurement of the slat and then cut it using a miter saw. Take another 14 inches measurement for the remaining section and cut it.

3. Get another slat, take two 20 inches long measurement, and cut them.

4. Cut 6 more slats that measure 26 inches long each. Also, cut another 4 slats that measure 25 inches long each. Set aside.

5. Place the two 48 inches long pieces in a parallel position, around 26 inches away from each other.

6. Place one 26 inches slat on top of the long pieces and then create two pilot holes on each side of the wood using a power drill.

7. Secure the 26 inches slat with the use of screws. Do the same for the other 4 slats, but leave half an inch space from each other.

8. From the left edge of the fifth 26 inches slat, measure 3 1/2 inches.

9. Make a mark on the sides of the frame and then place the remaining 26 inches slat on the mark. Drill two pilot holes and secure the slat with screws.

10. Get the two 25 inches slats and place them on the ground in a parallel position. Leave 25 inches space between the two slats.

11. Place the other three slats onto the paralleled slat and at least half an inch apart. Drill a hole and secure them with screws.

12. Turn the piece upside down and fasten the remaining slat to the end. This piece will serve as the back of the chair.

13. Insert the back piece into the 3 1/2-inch gap of the frame. Drill a hole and then insert the bolt. You can use the wrench to tighten up the nuts onto the bolts.

14. Take the 14 inches pieces and cut their ends forming a 45-degree angle.

15. Lift up the chain's left side, then attach the 14-inch pieces to the sides. This will be the legs of the chair.

16. Clean and smoothen the surface of the chair by sanding it.

17. Once smooth, you can now apply the varnish or paint of your choice. This will help protect the wood from various elements.
