The Market to MOHAI corridor leverages existing public streetscapes and spaces, and adjacent property owners and businesses, to forge a vital new connection through some of Seattle’s thriving business districts, high-density neighborhoods and cultural institutions. A visual identity was developed that brands the corridor and provides directional indication along the two-way trail. The corridor is built from a kit-of-parts that includes wayfinding and cultural content to be applied or implemented along existing streetscapes to provide fun and intuitive navigation, as well as “discoveries” that enhance the experience of walking and lingering. It is a prototype for a larger planned network of urban trails designed to work together to create greater pedestrian connectivity and enriched experience.
