where he served as associate superintendent. He is the former principal of Notre Dame High School in Wichita Falls, Texas. Prior to becoming an educator, Jones served in the U.S. Army for 11 years achieving the rank of major. Jones was deployed to

Boston University. In a search for a new principal, the St. Joe search committee took into account several factors. “Some of the things that came up was Catholic identity, experience – particularly experience in Catholic education – a good communicator, and overall a leader for the school,” said Kristen Doherty a member of the principal search committee and president of the St. Joe Advisory Council.

Jones said he is excited about being at St. Joe. “I’m glad to be here,” Jones said in a interview with Bruin News Now. “We always want to look to be growing forward, trying to do something a little bit better everyday.” Students also are excited to finally have a new principal. “There is definitely going to be a new atmosphere around here which I am excited for,” said sophomore Grant Murphy.

Benjamin Payne discusses the conflict caused by setting age requirements in a society with arbitrary bench marks. Why is the legal drinking age 21 and not 25? Why is the legal age to buy tobacco products 18 and not 16? And what does it mean for us? Opinion, Page 2
