Dear Friends of Theatre Aspen,

We welcome you to the Hurst Theatre in the beautiful John Denver Sanctuary for this, our 41st Summer Season.

As we begin our fifth decade, we are fortunate to be presenting one of our most artistically ambitious seasons ever.

Our MainStage will host a range of performances, from the heartwarming and hilarious “Steel Magnolias,” to the high-energy musical “Legally Blonde,” and the Tony Award-winning “Come From Away.”

The Cabaret Series at the classic Hotel Jerome continues with the addition of a fourth program, and of course, the summer wraps up with our fifth annual “Solo Flights” Festival of one-person shows.

We hope you will take advantage of each and every opportunity to be with us.

None of this would be possible without the leadership of our terrific Board of Trustees, the artistry of many artists, designers, and production teammates, and the enthusiasm and loyalty that you, our audiences, bring.

We are extremely grateful.

See you at the Tent!

SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR OPENING NIGHT RECEPTION SPONSORS

When it’s time to promote, support, and embrace our community,

we act.

Even in Aspen, with its cultural riches and world-class everything, it is community members of all sorts who provide the daily support to keep things humming, singing, playing, and dancing.

That’s a year-round effort, whether on the stage, in the boardroom, or at the front of the house.

We’re theatre people, and we can’t imagine not giving our time and effort to keep the curtain open and the quality, well, Broadway. But we’re house people, too. And the reason we help our clients find their homes in this town is because we can’t imagine finding ours anywhere else.

PLAYWRIGHTS

ROBERT HARLING (STEEL MAGNOLIAS)

After years of productive work as an actor in voiceovers and commercials, Harling was inspired to write the highly acclaimed stage play STEEL MAGNOLIAS, which was based on events from his personal life. STEEL MAGNOLIAS continues to thrive in theatrical productions throughout the world. Immediately bridging a career from stage to screen, Harling adapted his original play into the popular film of the same title, which starred Sally Field, Julia Roberts, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Dolly Parton, and Daryl Hannah. Over the years, Mr. Harling has become a much sought-after screenwriter: other credits, to name a few, include “Soapdish,” which was based on Harling’s acting experience and starred Sally Field, Whoopi Goldberg, and Robert Downey Jr., and “FIRST WIVES CLUB” for Paramount, starring Bette Midler, Goldie Hawn, and Diane Keaton.
