he 2016 Susan G. Komen Central Indiana Race for the Cure brought out thousands to Military Park on April 16, 2016. The New Beginnings Fellowship Church was among the 14 thousand plus participants during this annual event. The New Beginnings Fellowship Church team was led by First Lady Tara Jackson, partnering with the Women of Purpose (WOP), Sons with Authority and Truth (SWAT), Deaf and Hard of Hearing, and New B Nation ministries. Our church was blessed to be a part of such an event. This year, the projected pledge amount was listed at over $900,000. Up to 75% of the monies raised were dedicated to support local community based education, screening and treatment programs.

ing a difference. As quoted from the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure of Central Indiana’s organization, “teams are the heart and soul of our race. By starting a team you can bring family, friends and coworkers together to celebrate a survivor in your life, and honor the lives of lost loved ones.”

Bringing awareness to breast cancer is our goal. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer knows no boundaries regardless of age, race, gender or socio-economic status. With God’s grace and healing powers, we will all continue to do our part in Racing for the Cure. We praise God for allowing our New Beginnings Fellowship Church family to continue to make a difference in our community, personal and spiritual lives. Hallelujah!!

ow! Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday we were celebrating the arrival of a new year of Kingdom Growth. Now it is August and we are halfway through the year.

What a tremendous year it has been so far. God has been extremely faithful to the New Beginnings Fellowship Church. Wonderful and amazing things have been taking place in this ministry with the expansion to our church to include our Youth and Children’s facility. This state of the art building will provide ministry to our youth and children with

the highest level of excellence, integrity, and respect. I’m excited to see what God is going to do through this expansion and want to encourage you to stay obedient to Him. Family, it is because of our obedience to God that we are able to continue moving in the direction of spiritual growth.

With all of the senseless violence that is going on in our cities and our country if there was ever a time that we needed the Lord we need Him now. Family let us continue to stay prayerful for the peace of our nation and for those families that have been affected by what has taken place.

As we move into the next half of this year I would like to encourage each of you to take advantage of everything that we have to offer as you continue walking in Kingdom Growth. If you have not had the opportunity to take the growth survey online I encourage you to take it. Continue to be receptive to God’s will and I believe we will continue to grow and be the church were the Lord is worshipped and His people are changed. May God bless and keep you. This is my prayer!

reetings Family! It is hard to believe that we are moving into the second half of 2016. The journey of Kingdom Growth continues and I pray that you are encouraged as you experience what God is doing in your lives. He continues to do an Amazing work through the New Beginnings Fellowship Church. I don’t know about you but I am so thrilled about the construction of the Kingdom Center. The walls are going up and we are getting closer to having a facility that will be just for the young people of New Beginnings and the community. In case you weren’t aware, our young people need our help! They are forced to deal with so many issues. Things like drugs, alcohol, physical abuse, sexuality, violence, and the pull to conform to society’s norms. Many of these pressures begin as early as elementary school. It is my prayer that our Kingdom Center will be a fun and exciting place where our young people can continue to grow and develop in their relationship with God. Do you have a heart for kids? If so, I challenge you to get involved with our various ministries and activities geared toward our youth. Doing so will require time and commitment but the opportunity to pour into the lives of our children is rewarding and extremely necessary. Let’s pour into our young people!

I am very observant of my children and in doing so, I find myself noticing many changes in James and Jonathan as they continue to grow. Over the past few

months their appetites have changed tremendously; especially James II. I can recall not too long ago that we had to almost bribe him to eat a meal because it seemed as though he was never hungry. Lately, he has been finishing all of his food and asking for seconds. My child who rarely wanted to eat is now telling me that he’s hungry and ready to eat. His appetite is changing as he continues to grow. As we continue our journey, we should notice a change, an increase in our appetite for the things of God during this year of Kingdom Growth. Keeping that in mind, remember my challenge from the previous issue? How are you doing with the Kingdom Growth goals that you set earlier this year? Now would be a perfect time to reassess and reflect on those goals. In doing so, if you’re anything like me, you’ll find that you’ve done well and you’re closer to achieving some of the goals that you set. On the other hand, you’ll find that some of those goals need some extra time and attention. Whatever the case, keep moving forward! Continue to put in the work that is required to experience the new levels that God has for you. Reflect on the scripture Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.

reetings in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. On behalf of the Visions of Glory Team, I give thanks, honor and praise to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. New Beginnings had so many wonderful, fulfilling events during the second quarter. In this edition we highlight our love and compassion for those in need. Helping those less fortunate is a priority for New Beginnings. Our participation in one of the largest outreach ministry events in Indianapolis, the Convoy of Hope, was second to none. There were over 2,500 volunteers and over 200 churches working together to serve over 10,000 people with $1 Million in goods and services.

Wow!! We also had the opportunity to help others during our “Wing and a Prayer” Community outreach along with our Homeless Outreach. So many people in need were prayed for, encouraged, provided food to eat, witnessed to about Jesus Christ and in return gave their lives to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Hallelujah! We thank all of the volunteers who work so very hard to help those in need while sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ.

This edition also displays our support for the Susan G. Komen, Race for the Cure Event. This event was organized to raise funds to support the cure for breast cancer. This was an awesome event and we look forward to participating every year. We also highlight our Mother’s Day and Father’s Day celebrations where many people were blessed by New Beginnings. We were also able to teach our children during the Vacation Bible School program this quarter. See the articles and pictures inside.

Finally, we were also blessed during this quarter to have the opportunity to hear the teachings of Pastor Jasmin Sculark better known as “Dr. Jazz” during our “Thunder on Thursday” event. We had a huge turnout for this event and the message was very educational and inspiring! We hope that this edition is a blessing to you and pray that you have a wonderful and joyful summer!

he newly-minted Christians of New Beginnings picked a perfect day to be baptized, as Sunday, June 26, turned out to be a warm, gorgeous, sunny day. The real action, however, was inside the building, as a slate of candidates presented themselves to be publicly baptized, thereby signifying to the world their status as “new creations” in Christ!

The Baptism Services of New B operate somewhat differently from typical Sunday services. All members are encouraged to attend one of these special events at least once, and share in the tremendous power and symbolism of an act that was ordained by Christ himself. This particular service attracted numerous members and visitors alike, as well as many friends and relatives of those being baptized.

The New B praise team was in high gear, as always, and laid the groundwork for a powerful service with their anointed ministry of music. They brilliantly worked through a medley which included “Glory to God,” “I Love You Forever,” “I Have Decided to Follow Jesus,” and “You Make All Things New.” What a bless-

ing this faithful and gifted group of singers and musicians proves to be.

Pastor Jackson personally baptized each one of the dozens of souls who put themselves forward as candidates. Witnessing others being buried with Christ, so that they might “walk in the newness of life” (Romans 6:4), is a very moving experience, as attested to by the many in attendance who were there for the sole purpose of seeing these new Christians go down in the water. Tichina Clark, a visitor has been to several similar services in the past, and is moved every time.

“This is very inspirational,” she said. “It is an awesome experience to be here with each one of these new brothers and sisters, of all ages, as they begin their journeys in Christ.”

THE BUSINESS MINISTRY INTRODUCES:

he New Beginnings Fellow Church (New B) Business Ministry had a vision of showcasing the members of our congregation who are business owners. On Saturday, April 30, 2016, after three years of successful planning, New B introduced the 1st Annual “A Taste of New B Business Explosion.”

As guests bravely made their way through a cold, rainy and windy day to satisfy their curiosity, they were greeted with warm welcomes and smiles. Their eyes lit up when they glanced around the chapel and foyer and saw 43 vendor tables, each one strategically placed and decorated with their own personality and flair. All vendors had one thing in common and that was their eagerness to provide information about their business and the benefits of consulting them first for the goods and services before seeking outside businesses. T

hese are the words of Christ as He taught believers over two thousand years ago, and these are also words that you may have heard at the Convoy of Hope Event held June 25, 2016 across from the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

With over 18 months of planning and more than 2,500 volunteers from 200 churches, organizations and businesses, over $1,000,000 in goods and services were provided to more than 10,000 people that attended to this event.

New Beginnings was blessed to be a platinum sponsor for this year’s event. This was truly a community-wide effort.

Participating corporations like Radio One provided over $200,000 in free advertising and several local McDonalds’ franchisers provided food at no cost to the volunteers and attendees. Those who attended were able to receive free groceries, health screenings, job and career services, family portraits, haircuts, shoes, food services, veterans services, community services, guest services, safety and prayer. All were welcomed and no identification was required. This was an event designed to give a helping hand to people in need of assistance.

Convoy of Hope is a faith based, international, humanitarian relief organization whose goal is to bring help and hope to those who are impoverished, hungry and hurting. It was founded in 1994 by the Donaldson family. Each year, they help sponsor dozens of events throughout the world.

Pastors Darryn Scheske of Heartland Church and Jeffery A. Johnson, Sr. of Eastern Star Church were the catalysts

for bringing Convoy of Hope to Indianapolis. Eastern Star member Sara Green and other volunteers were commended by the Convoy of Hope staff due to their administrative work, planning and organizing of this event. Steve Pulis of Convoy of Hope said that this Indianapolis event took longer to plan than most events because it was on a larger scale. Mr. Pulis said that in over 1000 previous events Convoy of Hope has sponsored, this is the first time that they have had a restaurant like McDonalds provide such a large volume of food.

At the Volunteer Rally held at Eastern Star’s Main Campus the day before this event, organizers from Convoy of Hope’s corporate office urged volunteers to turn this moment into a movement. Mr. Pulis said with the momentum from this event, we can transform our city. Pastor Scheske told volunteers that they were representatives of the Holy Spirit while they served, the Spirit that provides hope to thousands of those in need.

We pray that hope will continue to spread across this city and more people will be blessed by the Convoy of Hope organization that has served more than 77 million people throughout the world. We look forward to the Indianapolis community partnering with Convey of Hope in the future.

W

e’ve Got Talent was the theme for Vacation Bible School (VBS) 2016. More than 135 children in grades Pre-K to 8th and 40 adult and teen volunteers participated. They spent the entire week learning about characters in the Bible. On Monday, the children studied Noah’s story and related him to an “engineer” in present times. Tuesday was spent teaching about Esther, the activist who could be related to a social worker or activist today. Luke the “doctor” was taught on Wednesday where VBS teachers also recognized Luke for helping to write about the life of Jesus. Thursday was about Paul the writer. New B Kids discussed him as a “motivational speaker” and writer of several books of the Bible. By relating the Biblical characters to occupations of presenttimes, New B Kids were taught how each person used their talents and gifts to save lives, and ultimately bring glory to God. The final day was spent teaching the kids about the ultimate example, Jesus. Family and friends were invited to Friday’s presentation day where the children recapped what they learned during the week of Vacation Bible School.

Storytelling and T-Shirt designing were some of the many activities the children participated in throughout the week as they learned how their own individual gifts and talents could be used to have a positive effect on God’s Kingdom. Each day, auditions for New B Kids Got Talent took place where kids had the opportunity to showcase some of their creative skills. Winners of the auditions were advanced to the finals

where four kids showcased their talents for family and friends and received trophies and a gift pack. Several other VBS participants were recognized with gifts for their participation throughout the week. Jeopardy, songs, guessing games, poetry, and a TV spoof of America’s Got Talent were collectively used by classes to showcase what they’d learned. Charles Jenkins “My God is Awesome” and Mary Mary’s “Go Get It” were some of the many songs that could be heard throughout the atmosphere as each class summarized their VBS lessons for the audience.

During VBS kids aspired to be math teachers, engineers, nurses, police officers and professional basketball players. Proverbs 12:14 was shared to remind the kids that whatever they decided to do, it could bring a reward where God could get the glory! Most importantly, several children took the opportunity provided to accept Christ at the closing of VBS.

By: Rena Allen The New B Evangelism Ministry called the Ambassadors of the Kingdom (AOK) is committed to going beyond the four walls of the church in non-traditional ways, in order to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are lost, troubled and broken. The AOK ministry has been hosting the Wing and a Prayer event for six years.

During this particular event, the AOK ministry visited a new territory in Indianapolis out in the community located at 21st and Mitthoeffer Road. There were about 22 volunteers who came out to support this ministry event which included about 10 men and 12 women. Having the men pre-

sent helps with security during these events. During this event, the AOK ministry had the opportunity to help those who were lost, struggling with drug and alcohol addictions, looking for jobs, and struggling with past issues ranging from neglect and rape. Also, there were parents requesting prayer for their children to be saved from the streets, and people seeking prayer for health issues. It’s always a humbling experience to encounter those who are longing for hope in Jesus Christ.

The AOK volunteers prayed with 102 people and had one person accept Jesus Christ within a 2 hour timeframe. The AOK ministry also

distributed 300 pieces of chicken, 100 cookies, 100 honey buns, and 100 bottles of water.

This event was held on Saturday, May 21st from 12 noon until 2 p.m. The weather forecast on this day was another blessing from God. It was raining the morning of this event and very cloudy, however, when the event started, the rain stopped, the sunshine came out and you could feel the temperature warming up. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.

other’s Day 2016 was a day of celebration for all of the beautiful mothers. This was a day for mothers to sit back and enjoy the word of the Lord. The awesome men of New B honored our mothers with their service in song, worship and welcoming. The Men’s Choir set the tone in praise and worship, boldly declaring “God Reigns Forever.”

Pastor Jackson continued with Part 2 of his message “A Word for the Wounded.” This was a message that was so appropriate for the occasion considering just how much our strong mothers endure. The word brought encouragement to those that may be experiencing a season of “uncomfortable healing.” During the service, we were also reminded that everything we are is

because of God. There is no doubt that God sent mothers to help carry out His purpose in our lives along the way.

In a tradition more powerful than words, a host of single mothers received a special token of love from Pastor Jackson. We thank God daily for all of our mothers and give honor to the mothers that have passed on to glory. We pray that God continues to bless all of our mothers beyond measure and those whose mothers have passed on to glory will always be able to remain in solace, covered in His grace.

appy Father’s Day to all of the dads at New B! We kicked off a new tradition this year as the women served in every ministry and let the men enjoy service and be ministered to.

From Made to Worship’s impactful dance performance of Tye Tribbett’s “Stand Out” to the women holding down the fort for Psalms of Judah, the worship experience was unforgettable.

While it was a Father’s Day celebration, Pastor James A. Jackson, Sr. brought a message that everyone could relate to. He taught out of the book of Proverbs 19:20-23 with a message titled “Daddy’s Advice.” He instructed the fathers, men, and women to accept discipline because in the end, they will be considered wise and not fools. He reminded the congregation that “Fear of God and

the respect of God gives you life, a full life.” Pastor Jackson told New B that we should not always be the ones giving advice, but rather seeking advice like a rare jewel. “If you are the smartest person in the room, it might not be a smart room,” is just one of the quotes from Pastor Jackson during this sermon.

Pastor Jackson encouraged listeners to go after advice in every situation; getting out of the status quo and connecting with those who are at a level you hope to reach one day.

Pastor Jackson’s sermon empowered dozens of men to change their lives for the better and the service ended as the New B men met with Pastor Jackson and God at the altar during the invitation to Christ.

I

n keeping with Jesus’ mission according to Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me,” the members of New Beginnings canvassed the streets to minister to the homeless of the greater Indianapolis area.

The first stop was at the Wheeler Mission Shelter for men. NewB members handed out food, personal care items, clothing and ended with prayer.

The second stop was at an area which is referred to as “Tent City” located by the White River. Those living in this community, live in houses they have put together with discarded plywood, tarp contraptions, burlap, vinyl signs and any other items that can be used to create a “dwelling” or home. As we spoke with some of the residents of this area, they stated that they were up all night trying to recover from the storm that had ripped roofs and sides off of the pieced together

homes and they were just getting to a point where they could rest. While giving food and personal care items, we were able to pray for several people and further understand their needs.

The third and final stop was at the main downtown library. This is a place where the homeless are able to stay in a safe environment during the day and the basement is even equipped with showers so that the homeless will have an opportunity to clean up. As we handed out the remaining breakfast sandwiches, food bags, personal care items and clothing, one thing became very clear, as Jesus tells us, we are one body in Christ. Everyone, rich, poor, every race, every age, has a legitimate role to play in that body. We may go out to the homeless with the intention of helping someone else, but ultimately, we are helping each other grow together into the body Christ envisioned from the beginning of time.

he sanctuary was filled to capacity with saints and the Holy Spirit on Thursday, April 7th. Renowned minister Dr. Jasmin Sculark of the Victory Grace Center in Bladenburg, Maryland was in attendance to deliver a word from the Lord.

The evening commenced with a high level of energy from the worshippers as the choir performed “I Wanna Be Where the Spirit Lives”, “We Lift Our Hands (Todah)”, “I Worship Him (He’s God)”, “Souled Out”, “Worth”, and “I am Yours and You are Mine”. Cries of worship amplified during the performances of “Souled Out” and “Worth” specifically as everyone in the sanctuary sang along in unison with their hands lifted and tears streaming down their faces.

After prayer, Dr. Jazz took the podium to begin her sermon entitled “Honey and Bees” which covered Judges 14:1-9. Dr. Jazz started by delivering the point that God has not only delivered us as individuals but has blessed each of us with the power to help deliver someone else who’s going through the same season we surpassed. Everyone was created for a divine purpose. This is exactly why the enemy was unable to destroy those of us who made it through our trials and tribulations.

God has equipped all of His people with the strength and resources to carry out their individual purposes whether they realize it or not. We all can handle every battle, every liar, every gossip and every addiction due to the Lord’s supply of extra strength and grace placed upon us. Our purposes are connected to other people.

When we surround ourselves with the right people, they will praise God with us and promote our purpose instead of seeking to destroy us and halt our purpose.

Some people are not fulfilling their purpose because they’re surrounded by the wrong people, or dead weight, that’s holding them back.

The crowd shouts and roars in agreement as the spirit fills the atmosphere. Dr. Jazz proceeds to state that the perceived issue we experience in life, which is also presented in the text, is when the very thing we are supposed to be delivered from and helping to deliver others from becomes attractive to us. The spirit wants to rebuke it but the flesh wants to indulge in it. What we as Christians fail to acknowledge is that the attraction itself comes from God. It’s a part of our test of strength and faith. It’s all about how we fulfill our destiny through the utilization of the strength God has given us. It is for this exact reason that God does not remove temptation from our lives. Another issue is when we chase honey instead of our destiny. Purpose attracts the right people but honey does not. Whenever we are being attacked it’s confirmation that we are on the right track. The enemy doesn’t attack anyone who is without a special assignment.

Dr. Jazz closed her sermon by blessing the congregation with the revelation that it’s impossible to get honey without bees, or in other words, blessings with problems and pain. In the Bible, honey signifies victory. It is shared, sweatless, and sweet. God brings something sweet out of all of our trials and tribulations. There’s a lesson in everything that happens in life. Once delivering this final point, Dr. Jazz says that she has honey in her hand and invites members up to the stage to take some from her hand. Dozens of members rushed toward her to shake her hand and get the “honey”. She closed by stating that our honey or blessings are meant to bless others and we should not be selfish with our gifts. The Holy Spirit took over the sanctuary and everyone cried and cheered in total worship.
