Cleveland Clinic Children’s Ranked Among the Best Children’s Hospitals by U.S. News & World Report

leveland Clinic Children’s, an integral part of global health system Cleveland Clinic, has been named a leader in clinical care in the U.S., according to U.S. News & Report’s 2022 - 2023 “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings. Cleveland Clinic Children’s earned national recognition in nine specialties: cancer (15), cardiology and heart surgery (6), diabetes and endocrinology (36), gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery (13), neonatology (10), nephrology (29), neurology and neurosurgery (40), pulmonology and lung surgery (30) and urology (24). For 14 consecutive years, Cleveland Clinic Children’s has ranked among the nation’s top 50 pediatric hospitals. This year, two specialties ranked in the top 10 in the nation (cardiology and heart surgery and neonatology) and two more ranked in the top 20 (cancer, gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery). “We are privileged to once again be recognized by U.S. News & World Report,” said Karen Murray, M.D., Chair of Cleveland Clinic Children’s. “These rankings reflect the hard work of our pediatric caregivers who strive to improve the health of our community’s children every day through world-class patient care, research, education and advocacy.”

Performed a rare and complex lifesaving fetal surgery to remove a tumor attached to the heart of a 26-week-old fetus. Enrolled as a clinical trial site for an experimental form of treatment to ward off some of the effects of Hunter syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that damages tissues and organs. Published a study showing healthy diets reduce cardiovascular risk factors in overweight children.

Reported findings from a study which showed a rise in pediatric heart failure-related emergency department visits and primary heart failure hospitalizations. Called for continued surveillance and reductions of preventable risk factors.
Since it first opened in 1921, Cleveland Clinic has cared for infants, children and adolescents. That history of pediatric care has become Cleveland Clinic Children’s. Today, it is one of America’s leading and largest providers of comprehensive pediatric care. More than 300 pediatric specialists and subspecialists– at more than 50 outpatient sites – provide the full spectrum of pediatric care to the largest patient population of any children’s hospital in Northeast Ohio. According to U.S. News, the “Best Children’s Hospital” rankings score the top 50 children’s hospitals in 10 specialties, based on clinical and quality data and an annual survey of pediatric specialists. The rankings methodology factors in patient outcomes, such as mortality and infection rates, as well as available clinical resources and compliance with best practices and efforts to promote diversity, equity and inclusion among patients and staff in 2022. Pediatric specialists around the country are also asked to provide their opinions on the best hospitals based on their inside knowledge of the delivered healthcare.
