Fragments of the
Infinite
My practice explores the expressive potential of landscape painting through bold color, layered textures, and dynamic mark-making. Working in acrylic I respond to the natural world and translate it into abstracted impressions. Nature is both my subject and my refuge—a space for reconnection and reflection. I am drawn to its rhythms, vastness, and transience, seeking to evoke a sense of something greater than ourselves. Inspired by artists such as Van Gogh, Joan Mitchell, Elisabeth Cummings, David Hockney, and contemporary landscape painters, I embrace gestural brushwork and intuitive abstraction to convey movement, energy, and emotion. The natural world is vast and in constant flux—shaped by time, weather, and unseen forces. The paintings in my current body of work, Fragments of the Infinite, capture but fragments of this endless transformation, glimpses of something infinite. Each scene is just one of countless possible perspectives, a fraction of the landscapes that exist and have existed, just as every moment we experience is part of a larger continuum. The floating elements—fragments of color, suspended forms—represent the energy that moves through each scene, escaping, shifting, dissolving. They suggest that no moment, no place, can ever be fully contained; everything is in motion, always becoming something new.The process of painting mirrors this impermanence. Layers of paint are built up and scraped away, echoing cycles of erosion and renewal. Gestural marks respond to the movement of the land—its rhythms, textures, and quiet shifts over time. My creative process is deeply intertwined with my emotional state, as I believe that cultivating a positive, attuned mindset translates into the vibrancy and resonance of my work. These paintings are not static representations, but explorations—fragments of an endless, ever-changing whole.
