Credit Unions Top Customer Experience Poll

Moyvane Parish Welcome The Three Tenors To celebrate the commencement of the season of Advent and the completion of recent extensive renovations to the church including painting. The parish of Moyvane will welcome; 'The Three Tenors' to the Church of the Assumption on Tuesday. November 28 at 8pm.

The internationally renowned trio of Dominic McGorian, Shane Morgan and Derek Maloney will delight those in attendance with a diverse collection of popular classics including; Sinatra, The Dubliners and Pavarotti coupled with festive favourites featuring 'Silent Night' 'O Holy Night and 'Ave Maria' to name just a few.

The concert is the Brainchild of Parish Priest Fr Kevin McNamara and his parishioners who are no strangers to concerts from internationally renowned musicians following on from a never to be forgotten concert from Phil Coulter held in the same church in June. All proceeds from the event will go to the Moyvane Church Restoration Fund.

Credit Unions Top Customer Experience Poll for Third Consecutive Year Listowel Credit Union Continues to Offer Best-in-Class Service for Members Credit unions have earned the number one spot for the best customer experience in Ireland again. Listowel Credit Union joins 270 other credit unions across the Republic of Ireland in topping the 2017 CXi Ireland Customer Experience League Table for the third year in a row.

The annual survey, carried out by Amárach Research for CXi, asks consumers to rate their experiences of 170 brands across 10 different sectors. Over 42,000 customer experiences were evaluated and credit unions again emerged as the overall winners, being rated highest for integrity, empathy and for the commitment of their staff. They were also singled out for the powerful bond forged with members - and the fact that the relationship with members was built completely on trust.

The CXi noted in its report that the products and services offered by credit unions are designed with the needs of their specific membership in mind, and said that credit unions were ‘the perfect example’ of organisations that ‘genuinely care’ about their members.

The report also said that trust is a hugely important factor in the rankings, and that credit unions are one of Ireland’s ‘most trusted brands.’

There was a notable gap in the performance between credit unions and the banks. The highest ranking banks were Ulster Bank and AIB in 89th place.

Commenting on the great achievement by credit unions, Head of Marketing and Communications with the Irish League of Credit Unions, Emmet Oliver said: “Our members are our number one priority and each and every credit union endeavours at all times to deliver the highest possible standard of service for them. Credit unions are different from other financial institutions, not just because we are not-for-profit, but because decisions are made at a local level, allowing credit unions a good deal of flexibility to provide services that are tailored to the individual needs of members.”

Also speaking about the accomplishment, Denis Dillane, CEO of Listowel Credit Union said “We are proud to be part of a movement that is regarded so highly across the country for customer experience. Listowel Credit Union has always provided the highest standard of member service, because we genuinely care about each and every one of our members. We have forged a strong bond with our members – a bond that is built on trust. We have always put our members first and we will continue to do so.”

The fourth annual ‘Well Being for Motherhood’ event took place last week in Listowel FRC. This is a partnership between North Kerry Primary Care Team and Listowel FRC. The event was well attended with moms, dads, babies and toddlers enjoying a great morning together. There were stands offering massage, health information and products aimed towards young families.

There were excellent speakers including: Mary O Dwyer, Speech & Language Therapy Manager HSE; Lorraine Hanlon Play Therapist; Anne O Donnell Coisceim Therapies and Dr Ann Horgan, Consultant Psychiatrist HSE. Dr Ann Horgan finished off an inspiring morning by reminding parents to hold their baby close, look into their eyes and tell them you love them all the time!

Celebrating 20 Years of the Lee Strand/Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Awards

IRISH ANTARCTIC EXPLORERS REMEMBERED

The Lee Strand/Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Awards 2017 was officially launched this week in Lee Strand in Tralee. This year the awards will be presented at a 20 Year Celebration Ceremony in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Tralee on Friday, January 26th, 2017. Since 1998 the awards have acknowledged the achievements of young people from Kerry between the ages of 14 years and 19 years. Awards will be presented for the Overall Winner, Certificates of Distinction, Certificates of Merit and the Voluntary Group Award.

Speaking at the launch Chief Superintendent Tom Myers stated “An Garda Síochána are delighted to be associated with the Lee Strand Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Awards. We often underestimate the worth of our youth who are both innovative and important to our future.

It is important to recognise their excellence in the area of sports, arts, culture, charities or caring for a relative or friend. The awards have a positive effect on our wider community and I would like to extend our appreciation and thanks to Lee Strand for their continued sponsorship and support over the past 20 years.”

John O’Sullivan, General Manager, Lee Strand stated “Lee Strand has a strong commitment to supporting initiatives within the local community and we are delighted to support the Kerry Garda Youth Achievement Awards for 20 years. The closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday, December 8th, 2017. Any member of the public can nominate a young person whom they feel has made a contribution to their local area.

Nominations are accepted from individuals, community and voluntary groups, schools and youth clubs/organisation. The winners will be selected by a panel of judges who are community volunteers from around the county under the chairmanship of Chief Superintendent Tom Myers, An Garda Síochána. Antarctic Exploration author Michael Smith returns to Listowel this October where he will direct a workshop on ‘Writing a Biography’ and give a lecture on ‘Ireland’s Antarctic Explorers’ at the Seanchaí – Kerry Writers’ Museum.

The one day workshop which takes place on Sunday October 22nd from 10 to 3 pm will incorporate finding the right subject, tips & traps of research, agent or no agent?, writing a synopsis for a publisher, the importance of presentation, locating pictures & maps, understand the minefield of copyright, tips on writing styles, the use of quotations and compiling a biography. Michael will also provide a brief and strictly confidential appraisal of any individual ideas for non-fiction books which participants wish to discuss.

Ireland stands at the centre of the gripping 100 year saga of Antarctic exploration yet the country’s unique contribution is often overlooked. From the early 19th century discovery of Antarctica to the Heroic Age of the 20th century, Irishmen played a major role in almost every noteworthy episode of Antarctic exploration.

These included the enigmatic Edward Bransfield from Cork who was the first person to sight the continent and pioneering Francis Crozier from Banbridge, who first mapped Antarctica. The 20th heroes like Crean and Shackleton are now well known, but lesser known Irishmen like Keohane, Forde and the McCarthy brothers have incredible stories to tell.

In his lecture on Tuesday October 24th commencing at 8 pm, Michael will explore the significant role Irishmen played in Polar exploration and will tell the fascinating and many unfamiliar stories about an overlooked chapter in Irish history.

Good News on Great Southern Trail Awards & Work to Start on Kerry Section Good news the Great Southern Trail Group (former North Kerry Railway Line) were awarded a special Juries Award at the European Greenways Association Ceremony in Adare recently. This is in recognition of the groups work in completing the 38km of the Greenway in west Limerick. This great event was hosted by Limerick County Council and had many expert speakers on Greenways.

The other Good News is that Kerry County Council are due to commence clearing the route from Listowel to to the Limerick Border shortly to join up with the 38km finished. Limerick County Council have exciting plans to improve and extend the Greenway. Kerry County Council advised people to keep away from this clearance work for safety reasons.

LISTOWEL CAMOGIE CLUB There was a great response to the new club which has shown that the interest is definitely there to make the set up feasible.

Extra Time COUNTY FINAL: No joy in Austin Stack Park for our senior hurlers who eventually lost 4-13 to 1-19 to Ballyduff in the County Senior Hurling championship final replay. A hat-trick of goals from Aidan Boyle set Ballyduff on their way for their 25th county title. Three points seperated the teams at half time 3-7 to 1-10, Lixnaws goal coming from Ricky Heffernan. Lixnaw started the second half with two points for a one point game before Ballyduff all too easily got in for goal number four. Lixnaw again were always chasing the game after that, unable to manufacture a badly needed goal. With three points between the side in the final attack, Shane Conway had one last chance of an equalising goal but he hurried his shot and his effort went harmlessly wide and that was that. Congratulations to Ballyduff, disappointment for Lixnaw.

St Brigids opened the scoring with a point from a free. With just 8 minutes gone Emma McCarthy and Kate Buckley paired up to score a great goal. 3 minutes later Emma McCarthy struck the net with some great ball work from Caoimhe Shanahan and Kate Buckley. St brigids responded with a point. 2 minutes later McCarthy struck the net again assisted by Niamh Mckenna.

Jackie Horgan scored a point from a free and 1 minute later Jackie blasted the net after some great passing by Niamh Mckenna and Miriam O Keeffe. St brigids got 3 points in quick succession.

Miriam O Keeffe replied with a lovely long range point. St Brigid's got 2 points. Finuge St Senans scored 2 points before half time from the boots of Niamh Mckenna and Emma McCarthy. Huge credit to our backs who were playing great football. Patrice Diggin, Ann-Marie Leen and Niamh Leen playing extremely well.

The second half started well for Finuge/St.Senans LFC with Miriam O Keeffe scoring 3 points to St Brigids 1. Niamh Carmody scored a lovely point after a lot of hard work out the field by Sara Murphy, Karen Stack and Catriona Dillon. St Brigids didn't give up and got 1-1 for their efforts. Katie Quilter had a great game in goals with great accuracy in her kickouts. Niamh Mckenna who was covering a lot of ground put over a lovely point. Aoife Behan, Niamh Carmody and Jackie Horgan were working very hard and this led to Kate Buckley getting on the ball and preforming a great solo run, beating the defense and the goalie with a fantastic shot. This was followed by 2 great points from Emma McCarthy. Finuge/St Senans introduced substitutions including Olivia Stack, Marion Lyne, Amy Cullen, Martina Guiney and Deirdre Hunt who all contributed to the game. Finuge/St Senans finished out the game with points from Niamh Carmody and Miriam O Keeffe.

LIXNAW HISTORICAL INFORMATION BOARD Lixnaw Development Association intend to erect a historical information board outside the Church. A draft of same can be viewed inside the Church at the entrance to the St Pio Shrine. The purpose of the board is to remind locals and inform visitors of the rich Lixnaw heritage. BOB'S PAINTINGS Ballinagare Bog, near Ballyduff in North Kerry, is a wonderful source of inspiration, with its gorse-covered rolling hills, deep water-pits, rich colours in the undergrowth and stunted trees. I have gathered together all my paintings of this, a favourite subject, and put them up in the Family Resource Centre (known locally as "Buds") right in the middle of the village. Continuing for the whole month of October, and open all normal business hours, this exhibition of a remarkable, unique, and wild environment continues the sequence of exhibitions of local North Kerry scenery which has already focused on Kilmore, and the Cashen (river and village).

GOLF OUTING The Ramblers Golf Society had their final outing of the season to Newcastlewest last Saturday. The course was in great condition despite all the recent rain and the weather was favourable with excellent scoring the order of the day. The outing was kindly sponsored by Hearthill Interiors and Heiton Buckleys.

COISTE NA NÓG As the rest of the village was preparing for the county senior hurling final, the under 13 footballers were taking care of some business of their own. The Tommy Madden Cup semi-final clash between Ballyduff and St. Senan’s took place on Sunday morning in Ballyduff.

After trading points at the start, the hosts began to stamp their authority on the match with a powerful Ray McGrath goal. They immediately pressurised the visitors on their kickout and managed to register a number of additional scores before Senan’s knew what hit them. In the open field, Aodhán Curly bossed the play. Support runners and sweet kick passes were on display in all corners. Some lovely points rained down while a further 4 goals were scored before it was all over. It would be difficult to find any area of play to criticise. So it’s on to the final next Sunday October 22nd where another top performance will be required. Well done and best of luck to the team and trainers!

GAA NEWS County Hurling Final Replay The wait for title no. 25 is over after a great win over Lixnaw on Sunday last at Austin Stack Park in the replay of the County Senior Hurling Championship Final. This was a much improved display from the previous week.

Ballyduff got off to a flying when Aidan Boyle had the ball in the net twice in the first quarter and added another goal before half-time. Lixnaw fought back strongly but Ballyduff were leading at halftime 3 – 7 to 1 – 10.

Lixnaw started the second half brightly and added two points but another goal this time from team captain Mikey Boyle (courtesy of an assist from Aidan) put Ballyduff into a lead they never relinquished and ran out winners on the score Ballyduff 4 – 13 Lixnaw 1 – 19 .

After the game Captain Mikey Boyle received the Neilus Flynn Trophy from Kerry County Board Chairman Tim Murphy. Aidan Boyle was voted “Man of the Match” and while he was a worthy recipient he was pushed hard by some of his team mates in what was a great team display.

MOYVANE VILLAGE FESTIVAL 2017 The 25th Village Festival is now fast approaching… since the first festival in October 1993 there has been many changes to the programme of events. This year sees the first Tractor run for kids on Sunday, October 29…this is open to both boys and girls once they bring along their own tractors!! Takes place in the School grounds at 1.15pm. Another first is the Family Fun day in the sports field at 1.30pm with lots of activities for all the family including a family relay race so that nobody feels left out! Make sure everyone comes dressed to take part! While on Sunday night the first Barn Dance takes place in the Community Centre. While Fancy Dress is optional, there will be some spot prizes on the night for the best turned out and the best dancers!! LISTOWEL ATHLETIC CLUB

County Cross Country: This weekend saw the third installment of the Kerry Cross Country season with the Junior, Senior and Juvenile relays held in Killorglin. The course was very difficult with a very long and steep hill to contend with. In the Senior Ladies, Lios Tuathail were delighted to have Lorraine Doorley running for the first time in Lios Tuathail AC club colours. Lorraine did really well in her first outing finishing 12th overall. Well done Lorraine. Emily Pierse ran a very strong race in the Junior girls to take Gold. It’s great to see Emily back running well after a recent sickness.

In the juvenile relays, Lios Tuathail were well represented with strong teams across all age groups. We would like to thank all parents and athletes who made themselves available for the teams last Sunday. Its great to see the hard work in training paying off on the cross country course.

First up were the U10 girls team of Caroline Fallon, Maeve Cuddigan, Eliza O'Donnell and Katie Walsh taking Sliver over the 1K course. Consistent and strong running by all four members set up for a great finish by Katie to bring the team home in second place. U10 Boys of Oran Doorley, Sean Mulvihill, Ronan Sheridan and AJ Barrett battled hard to take bronze.

The U12 girls team of Emma Nelyon, Stephaine Sheehan, Noelle Dillon, Emily Landy and Ciara Fallon were unlucky to be outside the medals placed fourth. In the Boys U12 we had two teams that ran on the day finishing third and fifth. First team of Matthew Quinn, James Dillon, Georgie O'Donnell and John Carmondy ran well from the off with Matt handing over to James who put in a storming leg. Georgie battled hard into the big hill to hand over to John who used all of his battling qualities to take Kenmare in the closing stages for the Bronze medal. Our second team of Adam Lynch, Oisin Mulvihill, Harry Reidy and Joey Maher did well considering that they are all underage again next year. Under 14 girls were involved in the race of the day with some super performances by all four girls. These girls each had to run 500m so no escaping the hill. Sarah Quinn started really strong taking the lead at the half way mark. Sarah came under severe pressure in the closing stages and handed over in second with the top three all in close contention. Sinead Shanahan put on the burners in the last 150m to make up great ground on the leaders and handed over to Etain O'Callaghan. Etain ran a consistent steady race throughout to give the baton to Rachel Nelyon in third position and in contention for silver. Rachel worked hard up the hill put it looked as if silver was slipping away. A second wind on the downhill section Rachel kicked for home and started to close the gap. Around the last bend, both girls were shoulder to shoulder but the great determination by Rachel got her and her team mates over the line in silver just at the line. Sub on the day was Aisling McAuliffe experiencing cross country relays for the first time. Our final team of the day were the U16 Boys of Dermot Pierse, David O' Callaghan, Sean Mahony and Niall Lynch. The boys ran comfortably to finish in the Silver medal position. Again, this is a young team so we expect bigger things next year. Over the three days, Lios Tuathail finished top in Division B and would like to say well done to all athletes for continuing our success in the cross country scene.

Autumn Cross Country Event: Best of luck to Aoife Mahony and Darragh Browne who run this weekend in the Autumn Cross Country event in Abbotstown in Dublin. Upcoming events: In the local scene we look forward to the Munster Even, U23 and Novice cross country in Clare.

Munster Schools: Well done to Sean Mahony and Sean Keane who competed in the Munster Schools Combined Events Championships for St, Michael's in Nenagh indoor stadium.

Athletics training: Athletics training for all athletes resumed on Sat 30th with large numbers across all age groups. Little Athletics: Little athletics for athletes ages 7+ is on Saturday at 10am to 11am in Listowel Community Centre.

Athletes from last years group training at 10am - 11am, athletes aged 14+ training 11.30 to 12.30pm. Cross country/middle distance: Tuesday XC time is at 6.30pm , Saturday 10 am & U14 group starts at 11am.

BEALE GAA

Beale seniors secured a quarter final spot in the North Kerry Championship when we had the upperhand on last year's finalists, St Senans, in Ballybunion on Sunday. Played in beautiful autumnal conditions in Páirc de Staic, it looked like Senans had the slight edge on the field of play in the opening 15 minutes but our defence stood firm, keeping scores to a minimum as the teams exchanged points. We settled into the game and raised the green flag, forging a 5-point lead. Both teams added further points and we had a 4-point cushion at the short whistle, 1-7 to 0-6.

We extended that lead with three unanswered points on the changeover. Our opponents found the net but we dug deep and a spirited team effort meant

Our semi-final of the North Kerry Junior Championdhip against Ballyduff has been postponed. Date to be confirmed.

We join forces again this year with Ballylongford and Asdee for the North Kerry Under-21 Championship and have been drawn to play St Senans in the quarter final on Saturday, October 28th, in Coolard at 3.00pm. It is planned to run off much of this competition over the Bank Holiday weekend and the winners contest the semi-final on Bank Holiday Monday against the winners of Emmetts/Knock-Brosna at 2 o'clock .

Beale GAA Club host our Annual General Meeting on Saturday, December 9th, at 8.30pm in Ballybunion Community Centre. Nominations for club officers and motions for the AGM to be submitted to the Secretary by December 2nd.

Seniors: Knocknagoshel Seniors exited the North Kerry Championship on Sunday last with a loss to Asdee. This brings the curtain down on a difficult year on the field for the senior team. We thank the players and management for their efforts during the year and hope for a revival of fortunes in 2018.

Under 16's: Knock/Brosna/Duagh will play Beale this Sunday in Duagh in the North Kerry Championship.

ASDEE GAA

NORTH KERRY CHAMPIONSHIP: Asdee 4-17 Knocknagoshel 0-6 Asdee produced their finest hour in their North Kerry Championship history, coming out victorious over Knocknagoshel on a scoreline of 4-17 to 6 points.

The game started with Knocknagoshel having numerous chances, missing some of which might have put the pressure on Asdee in the early periods.

However, Asdee came into the contest strongly after the initial poor start, with Owen Tydings, Darragh Keane and Michael Tydings coming to the fore in the full forward line. The score that injected life into Asdee came on the ten minute mark when a lovely move finished with Jack Keane breaking through and laying off to Eoin Kennedy who rounded the keeper and finished cooly to the net, putting Asdee ahead 1-2 to 0-2. From here until half-time, Asdee produced some fantastic pieces of play, resulting in an exhibition of scoretaking and exemplary passing. Shortly after the first goal, Eoin Kennedy played Mike Breen through, who finished with a nonchalant punch to the net.

The workrate and intensity of Asdee’s play was outstanding during this period, with players from every line turning ball over and assisting in the attacking play. Darragh Keane, Owen Tydings, Mike Breen, John Doran and Kieran Kelly added points from flowing moves before the break to see Asdee lead 29 to 0-3 as the whistle blew for half-time.

The second half opened with Asdee showing the same intensity as the first half, with Keith McNamara turning over a ball ending with Owen Tydings opening the scoring for the half. This set the tone for the following ten minutes, as Asdee turned over possession time after time during this spell.

Shortly after, another turnover resulted Darragh Keane playing Owen Tydings through, who flicked the ball over the keepers head into the net, solidifying Asdee’s position. Mike Breen, Darragh Keane and Owen Tydings added points in the next period of play. Knocknagoshel continued to try to break quickly, but the full-back line of Con Carmody, Martin Collins and Eoin O’Carroll were dominating their battles inside. Asdee added a point from a lovely solo run by Eoin Kennedy, prior to another quick move, which saw Darragh Keane break free of his marker and crash his shot to the roof of the net. Mike Breen added another point, before Eoin Kennedy added a long range point, and Kieran Kelly split the posts with the outside of the boot from 45 yards. Michael Tydings got a well deserved point, before Eoin Kennedy and Owen Tydings added to their tally with well taken scores. Knocknagoshel battled on and Asdee defended valiantly as they ventured forward in search of goals. Niall Barrett was to finish as Knock’s sole scorer with 6 points. The defence was to hold firm however, limiting Knock to frees, and denying goalscoring opportunities. Paul O’Carroll, Denny Dalton, Matthew Hanlon, and James Kelly entered the fray half-way through the second half and each made significant contributions. Con Carmody was black carded for an innocuous tackle at this stage, which was a shame for such an accomplished display.

The game finished with further points from Owen Tydings, one beauty from a tricky angle following a great pass from Sean Keane, as Asdee tended to drop back and consolidate their lead.

The final whistle brought a thoroughly deserving victory to Asdee on a scoreline of 4-17 to 0-6. They will now meet Listowel Emmets in the next round.

It would be wrong to single out any player after such a brilliant, committed display by everyone who took to the field. The workrate, and determination shown was a joy to watch. It is rare to get such a performance in an important game, and every man can be proud of the display they produced today.

From the keepers Conor Coughlan and James Kelly, to the already mentioned full-back line, to Conor Keane, Sean Keane and Keith McNamara. John Doran and Kieran Kelly worked tirelessly at midfield, while Michael Breen, Eoin Kennedy and Jack Keane were up and down the field helping to prevent and create scores. The previously mentioned full forward line were outstanding, with each man winning their battle and putting scores on the board. Well done to team and management alike.

TROJAN BOXING CLUB

Last Saturday Trojan Boxing Clubs Ray Collins was selected to Box in Drogheda as part of a Munster team. Grahame Ball (head coach for Trojan BC) was also selected as Head Coach for Team Munster for this trip. Ray boxed a brilliant toe to toe contest, although he didn’t come home with the winning decision we are all delighted with his performance. This is Rays first contest this season so only the beginning of a long season. Very happy to see Ray back in the ring, not yet fighting fit but definitely looking forward to the season ahead. Well done Ray & Grahame.

This Friday (Oct 20th) we will be having a celebration for our European Bronze Medalist Sean Walsh in Mikey Joe’s, Ballybunion at 9pm. Food and music, all welcome to come and share Sean’s special night.

Munster Junior Club Semi Final Clanmaurice got their Munster Club Championship campaign off to a good start by beating An Rinn of Waterford. The game was played last Sunday in Waterford in poor weather conditions, however this didn't stop the Clanmaurice girls. The girls hit the ground running with a quick start and holding An Rinn to only a point in the first half. The scoreline at half time left Clanmaurice with a 12 point lead going into the dressing rooms 1-10 to 1 point. However the girls were against the breeze in the second half and knew going out onto the pitch that they would have to work tirelessly for the second half if they were to beat the Waterford Intermediate champions. The girls did just this and with an early goal in the second half the girls knew they were on their way to a Munster Final. Clanmaurice were the far better team on the day showing a high skill level and fitness and finishing out with a high score of 2-14 to 4 pts. Clanmaurice will now play Na Piarsaigh of Limerick on the Sunday 29th of October at 2pm in Feohanagh Castlemahon GAA, Coolyroe, in the Munster Junior Club Championship Final.

Played in beautiful autumnal conditions in Páirc de Staic, St. Senans opened the scoring with a free pointed by Sean O Connell in the first minute which was cancelled out by a Ger Gorman point after good work by Darragh Buckley in the 4th minute.Another Sean O Connell free from the sideline in the 5th minute was cancelled out by a Darragh Buckley point after a great run by Daniel Ellis.Sean O Connell and Ger Gorman swopped frees to leave the score tied after 15 minutes.Richie Nolan put Senans ahead with their first score from play and this was to be the last time they had their noses in front.Beale had at this stage begun to get on top in most areas of the pitch and some lovely interplay led to points from Ger Gorman and Ian Mannix before Tom Joy netted a great goal after a 1-2 with Ger Gorman.Daniel Ellis raised another white flag after another surging run to put Beale ahead 1-06 to 0-04 after 23 minutes.Brendan Whelan and Darragh Buckley swopped points and a further pointed free fron Sean O Connell left the home side with a four point cushion at the short whistle 1-7 to 0-6.

St. Senans were now fighting to stay in the Championship.They introduced Paudie Dillon,moved Brendan Whelan to the small square,David Foran to midfield and Sean O Connell to the forty and went at Beale with everything they had.Beale however were resolute in defence with Colm Kissane giving a master class at full back and young Toomey in the corner also catching the eye with his daring courageous play.Several Senans attacks were repelled and Beale scored three points on the break,two from the experienced James McMahon and another from the dangerous Darragh Buckley to leave the scoreboard reading Beale 1-10 St. Senans 006.Senans needed a goal and Cathal Kennelly provided it with a powerful shot low to the corner in the 40th minute but they could not build on this scoring three further points while Beale added four more points to leave the Final Score Beale 1-14 St. Senans 1-09. Beale now play the winners of Brosna/Finuge on Sunday, November 12th, in the Quarter Final.They will no doubt be buoyed by this victory,they produced a committed performance all over the pitch,they are resolute in defence,have a very hard working,energetic and young midfield pairing of Neilus Mulvihill and Daniel Ellis and up front they have forwards who are capable of picking the locks of the best defences.St. Senans will no doubt be disappointed to be out in the first round after their great run last year and while they were without several players, they tried everything they knew and stuck manfully to the task to the end as usual.Brendan Griffin warmed up for the County Final next weekend doing a fine job on the whistle and all in the NKB wish him the best next weekend.

St Brigids opened the scoring with a point from a free. With just 8 minutes gone Emma McCarthy and Kate Buckley paired up to score a great goal. Three minutes later Emma McCarthy struck the net with some great ball work from Caoimhe Shanahan and Kate Buckley. St Brigids responded with a point. Two minutes later McCarthy struck the net again assisted by Niamh McKenna. Jackie Horgan scored a point from a free and one minute later Jackie blasted the net after some great passing by Niamh McKenna and Miriam O Keeffe. St Brigids got three points in quick succession. Miriam O Keeffe replied with a lovely long range point. St Brigid's then got the next two points. Finuge St Senans scored two points before half time from the boots of Niamh Mckenna and Emma McCarthy. Huge credit to our backs who were playing great football. Patrice Diggin, Ann-Marie Leen and Niamh Leen playing extremely well. Half time score Finuge/St Senans 4-4 to St Brigids 0-7.

The second half started well for Finuge/St. Senans LFC with Miriam O Keeffe scoring three points to St Brigids one. Niamh Carmody scored a lovely point after a lot of hard work out the field by Sara Murphy, Karen Stack and Catriona Dillon. St Brigids didn't give up and got 1-1 for their efforts. Katie Quilter had a great game in goals with great accuracy in her kickouts. Niamh Mckenna who was covering a lot of ground put over a lovely point.

Aoife Behan, Niamh Carmody and Jackie Horgan were working very hard and this led to Kate Buckley getting on the ball and preforming a great solo run, beating the defense and the goalie with a fantastic shot. This was followed by 2 great points from Emma McCarthy. Finuge/St Senans introduced substitutions including Olivia Stack, Marion Lyne, Amy Cullen, Martina Guiney and Deirdre Hunt who all contributed to the game. Finuge/St Senans finished out the game with points from Niamh Carmody and Miriam O Keeffe.

THE MEANINg Of LIfE Throughout history society has struggled for names to describe members of the Christian Faith. In the early Church it was called “The Way” and it was nearly 30 years later before the term “Christian” was first used in the city of Antioch.

Today we are sometimes called the "born agains" so l want to explain what "born again "means to me. Sixty-three years ago l was born physically into my family making me a member of that family. That was my first birth...my physical birth. When much later on as an adult I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour l became a member of God's family. ...you could say I was born spiritually. That was my second birth...my spiritual birth....in other words l was born again. It's that easy. ...no surgery required!!!

But you might ask “Is this for certain individuals only who belong to an exclusive club?"To answer this the Bible, which is the Word of God, says in the Gospel of John chapter 1 verse 12 "To all who received Him (Him refers to Jesus ) He gave the right to become children of God " Note the word all, that doesn't sound exclusive to me and it gets even better. In the Gospel of Matthew chapter 12 verse 50 Jesus says "Whoever does the will of My Father in Heaven is My brother ". This statement sounds almost blasphemous but Jesus is claiming to be our brother. So, according to God l am a "Citizen of Heaven ". l am a child of God. God is my Father. I am a member of His family.Jesus is my brother. That's amazing and true.Can l invite you to join me on Sunday mornings at Listowel Christian fellowship?
