Despite having no formal training in film at the outset, Subin’s journey to become a filmmaker was driven by the desire to tell stories that matter. “I was from a counseling background with no real knowledge of film production, but I knew I wanted to direct short films,” he recalls. “The challenge was huge people teased me, and it was difficult to get anyone to recognize me seriously as a filmmaker.”
But Subin’s resilience paid off. He immersed himself in the craft, took courses, and learned the nuances of filmmaking. Slowly but surely, he gained recognition for his directorial efforts, eventually winning multiple awards for his short films. “I knew if I wanted to grow and study counseling at an advanced level, I had to learn English,” Subin explains. “So, I studied hard and eventually secured admission to a counseling program in the United States ”
This determination to push past his limitations became a hallmark of Subin’s journey From mastering a new language to acquiring the technical knowledge necessary for filmmaking, every challenge Subin faced only strengthened his resolve.
