The Witness

The Measuring Stick 13 Enter through the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and spacious and broad is the way that leads away to destruction, and many are those who are entering through it. 14 But the gate is narrow, narrow contracted by pressure and the way is straitened and compressed that leads away to life, and few are those who find it. (Matt 7:13-14) Ampl The apostle Paul or Shual, was called in a very different way by Yahshua. Shual, who became known as Paul, was a very devout and learnt man, who was very zealous for Elohim – the God of the Old Testament. He studied under the most respected Rabbi of that time: Gamaliel. Teaching in the time of the Jews under a master of the Torah did not work like it works in the western world. We decide that we want to study under certain a teacher and then enrol. This was not how it worked in that time among the Jewish Pharisees. For one to be able to become a student under a Rabbi, the Rabbi had to choose you. You would be chosen from among many as the best student.

Gamaliel – “The Elder” Gamaliel I, kown own as "the Elder" (1st cent. CE), president-patriarch president (nasi) of the Sanhedrin, Sanhedrin grandson of Hillel. He and his descendant-successors successors were distinguished by the honorific title Rabban ("our master") in place of the usual Rabbi ("my master") applied to talmudic sages. As a contemporary orary of King Agrippa I, he was consulted by him (and his queen) on halakhic problems. As the supreme halakhic authority, he issued from the Temple precincts proclamations to the communities co in Erets Israel and in the Diaspora concerning tithing problems and the leap year (Sanh. ( . 11b). The right of the Sanhedrin to regulate the Jewish Calendar was at the heart of its authority, ority, and Gamaliel issued a number of regulations (see Takkanah)) to assure the examination of witnesses who had seen the New Moon, thus enabling the court to proclaim the beginning of another month.
