Mrs. Philomena Davis, 403 Commercjal Street, Provincetown, will be among four Franciscans of. the Sacred Heart Province ordained to the holy priesthood on Saturday by the Mos-:; Rev. George L. Leech at Im- r-" c" maculate Conception Chapel on St. Francis College campus, Loretto, Pa. Father Murphy recently completed the prescribed course of theology at St. Francili' Seminary in Loretto climaxing the nine years of clerical studies prerequisite to ordination. The ordinand attended Provincetown High School and Bryant and Stratton School before becoming an aspirant to the Third Order Regular of St. Francis in 1951. Forty-one parishes have already, on the basis of incomplete r 'urns, passed their 1959 totals in charitable giving. The great increase that is presently growing has resulted from intensive, dedicated parish and Special Gift committemen's zeal and work;. The popularity of ten dollar donations has brought about more than a 15% increase in this cat~g('-", The Appeal office announced today that their books and tabulations will officially close within ten days and has urged all solicitors to make their returns at once. Holy Name Parish, Fall River, leads the parish list on contributors. Lynch Accepts As'signment To Stang High Faculty The Most Reverend Bishop announced yesterday the appointment of Carlin y. Lynch as a member of the teaching staff and Athletic Director of Stang High School, No. Dartmouth. Mr. Lynch will serve on the faculty and will be coach of football and baseball as well as physical education director of the school. The first coach and director of athletics at the Diocese's newest school brings to his positions • wealth of experience in the Sports field on both the active and administraive levels. . A native of Somerset, he was graduated in 1952 from Monsignor Coyle High School, Taunton, where he earned nine letters, eaptained the basY~~baH. team and.was co-leader of the football squad. An All-State end in football and All Bristol County on the .ridiron and the diamond, Carlin entered Holy Cross' College where his brilliant exploits on the football field brought him national recognition and a berth on the AU New England eleven. A shoulder injury curtailed his eatching career after two years under the venerable Jack Barry. Upon graduation, he entered the ranks of high school coaches by accepting a position at Catholic High, Pueblo, Colorado.
