PISAY-CRC RANKS 2ND RUNNER-UP IN DSPC '16 “With Grades 7-9 contestants, battling with Grade 10-11 students, you did an excellent job. Next year, we should maintain the rank, or place higher than expected.” Kenneth Jeason B. Garcia, Curriculum Instructions Services Division (CISD) Chief said on Monday. With its second year in joining, the Philippine Science High School Caraga Region Campus garnered 2nd Runnerup (Overall Ranking) in the concluded Division Schools Press Conference last November 7-9, 2016 at Ong Yiu Central Elementary School. Neophyte Pisay Journalists slayed the competition, namely Roy Angelo D. Velmonte and Tim Allen G. Ebron, as they ranked Champion, among mostly 30 opponents. Harold Giovannie A. Guelos, won 2nd place, in Sports Writing. Moniera Nice T. Planas, placed 2nd in the Editorial Writing, Filipino Category. Arianne Mer F. Paas, and Jessie Lix C. de Ramos Jr., Science and Technology News Feature Writers, ranked 2nd (Filipino Category) and 3rd (English Category), respectively. BG Yvonne C. Sabellano and Lawrence D. Osorio won 4th and 5th place in Copyreading and Headline Writing. Bea Jane V. Serna ranked 6th, in the News Writing Category. Zennia Marie C. Granado, Filipino Feature Writer garnered 6th place. Editorial Writer Eunice Joshua Gazmin won 10th place. In the group category, The English Radio Broadcasting team, won 5th in Overall Best Radio Broadcast led by Rufiah Levi A. Medado. Jose Rybenn Rovi A. Rendon garnered 1st place in Best in Infomercial. Jason Gil P. Villanueva won 4th in Best News Anchor. Danika Mae D. Soberano, and Katrina Lea G. Rosales, placed 3rd and 4th as Best News Presenters, respectively. The Filipino Radio Broadcasting team’s Infomercialist, Joshua A. Acido garnered 3rd place in Best in Infomercial. Elejune Ace B. Epanes also won 7th as Best News Anchor and Carl Marlo D. Asotigue as 4th in Best in Technical Application.

ictory was raised as Philippine Science High SchoolCARAGA Region Campus waved its banner during the conduct of the Regional Schools Press Conference at Agusan del Sur, where four journos grabbed spots during the awarding. The said activity was held on December 1-4, 2016 at Agusan del Sur National High School, San Francisco, Agusan del Sur and was participated by a total of 11 students from Pshs crc, both from english and filipino publication. From the English Publication, Harold Giovannie A. Guelos ranked fourth place in Sports writing while Jose Rybenn Rovi A. Rendon bagged third place for the best in infomercial and finished second for the overall production. The Filipino Club also rejoiced as two contestants ranked during the awarding, namely: Arianne Mer F. Paas, Science and Technology Feature writer who ranked 7th place and Moniera Nice T. Planas, an Editorial Writer who qualified for the National Schools Press Conference, ranking third place. The National Schools Press Conference will take place soon on January 2017 at Pagadian city wherein Moniera Nice T. Planas will bring the name of PSHS-CRC.
The Filipino Collaborative Desktop Publishing Team, of Cecile Hidalgo, Kenneth Atienza, Kessiah Montereso, Hanford Gonzales, Krishna Yambot, Ciara De Paz, Samantha More, and Nikka Go also won 3rd place in Best Newsletter.
DOST-PSHS HOLDS 2016 NCE The DOST-PSHS 2016 National Competitive Examination (NCE) was held in 115 designated testing centers all around the country. Applications were accepted in the different PSHS campuses, DOST offices, and Provincial Science and Technology offices from

PISAY-CRC SCHOLAR GRABS FIRST PLACE IN BCWD WATER QUIZ SHOW ‘16 BY: NIGEL JOHN F. CASIDO Shaina Delia G. Tomaneng, a Grade 7 student of the Philippine Science High School-Caraga Region Campus took the first place in the BCWD Water Quiz Championship against three remaining finalists on October 28, 2016 at the Butuan City Water District Office, with Mr. Rotchie Glen A. Francisco as her adviser.
The English TV Broadcasting Team, composed of Jewelle Marie S. Mejias, Eughien Frances F. Maquiling, Carl Djhon E. Gangca, Mc Clareenz L. Zerrudo, Ronnick Rey D. Ajoc, Regina Estrelieta C. Lambo, and Francesca Louise A. Tupaz placed 3rd in all group awards, and Francesca Louise A. Tupaz also won 2nd as Best TV Anchor. In the Filipino Category TV Broadcasting, with Daveigh Kate C. Abogado, Smurf Angelo M, Agbay, Mily Shey C. Gata, Angelo Mari C. Montero, Nathalie May A. Libres, Mac Harold T. Bañez, and Alexandra P. Layese won 2nd in all group awards. Mac Harold T. Bañez and Alexandra P. Layese both won 2nd as Best News Anchor and Best News Presenter respectively.
The theme of the said activity, “Strengthening freedom of information through Campus Journalism, which was participated by Elementary and Secondary Schools in Butuan City. 11 Scholars, will represent the Division of Butuan City in the upcoming Regional Schools Press Conference, in San Francisco, Agusan Del Sur.

The NCE is a scholastic aptitude test which is designed to measure Scientific Ability, Quantitative Ability, Abstract Reasoning, and Verbal Aptitude. It serves as the entrance examination for the Philippine Science High School System, as well as to be qualified for a DOST scholarship.

Winning the championship was a surprise to her because as she had said, “I never planned on joining this because I thought it might interfere with my schoolwork. But I thought- why not try? If I wouldn’t win, at least I tried. I also thought of the new things I’d learn while preparing for the quiz, which I did in a very short time. And the unexpected did happen- I won!.”
