St Brigid’s goes for gold... By Dani McDonald Johnsonville’s St Brigid’s school is in the running for Churton Park New World’s Go for Gold to repaint the playground area. The Go for Gold promotion allows customers, who spend $25 at Churton Park New World, to receive a clip on a card. When the card gets eight clips, or spends over $200, a customer can choose one of five organisations. New World then places a $1 coin on the track for which ever group was chosen. Other groups in the running are Churton Park Kindergarten, who wish to put up a cargo net for the children’ playground; Amesbury School who are undergoing an upgrade for the school garden and landscape; Johnsonville Plunket who support groups, family centres and parent education services; Churton Park school who are undergoing their playground landscaping. St Brigid’s School friends and family fundraising member Carol Winter says
the school hopes to raise funds to purchase paint for the outside gaming area, such as hopscotch and four square. “We have had some painting in the past, but really it needs repainting because they’ve faded quite a bit,” Ms Winter says. She says while that is the initial focus, they also hope to get some seats under the trees as the senior playground area lacks any shade. The competiton is running for another three months at Churton Park New World. “They’ve been very, very good to us,” Ms Winter says of New World.
