Schools combine for concert extravaganza Christ’s College’s Tom Kelly was one of the more than 120 students who came together on Wednesday from his school, Rangi Ruru Girls’ School and St Margaret’s College to play in a combined concert band and string ensemble. Christ’s College director of music Robert Aburn said collaborating with other schools to present a combined concert gave the young musicians a focal point, which was instrumental in creating a polished performance. The Orchestral Extravaganza concert took place at Christ’s College.

Currently, it works at Mairehau Primary School and St Francis of Assisi School and offers community workshops. Mrs Larsen said in spite of its funding running out, the trust is committed to helping the area in the long term and is looking to find a solution. The trust has run its Mairehau Neighbourhood Project for the last three years on funding from
the city council and the Tindall Foundation, and additional funding from the Ministry of Social Development this year. That funding has only been earmarked for three years and will run at the end of the year. HAVE YOUR SAY: Do you think there is enough support for stressed children?
