Frantic mum hunts for ashes By Julia Evans THE DESPERATE mum searching for her son’s stolen ashes has been going to pawn shops in a bid to find clues as to who took them. Raewyn Wahnig went to The Pawn Shop on Ferry Rd yesterday in case the person who burgled their house on Thursday had tried to sell jewellery which was also taken. Stillborn son Thomas James’ ashes were stolen in the burglary in Buckleys Rd, Linwood, Raewyn at 3.50pm on Wahnig Thursday. She is desperate to get them back, and is hoping the offender may have the heart to let her or someone else know where they have discarded them – or even return the ashes. Mrs Wahnig said the burglar probably thought the ashes were drugs. Police don’t appear to have any leads. • Turn to page 4 •Editor’s plea to burglar, page 2
