Hospital car park problem to get worse By Max Towle
HEALTH OFFICIALS are urgently trying to solve a looming parking crisis at Christchurch Hospital. When construction begins on a $400 million to $450 million upgrade of the hospital later this year, all of its current 130 on-site parking spots will be out of action. Canterbury District Health Board executive director of nursing Mary Gordon told The Star officials were investigating temporary solutions.

“We are currently investigating the most appropriate solution to parking at the Christchurch Hospital site for both during and after the development work,” she said. The CDHB will hold a public meeting tomorrow at the cardboard cathedral. One temporary solution that is being discussed is a park-andride system where visitors park off-site and are then driven to the hospital in a shuttle. •Turn to page 4
