Pass your Driving Test in 5 Days G

o Go Go Intensive offers learner drivers a fast and cost effective way to pass both the driving theory test and practical driving test for a standard fee of £795. According to the Driving Standards Agency (DSA) the average driver needs 45 professional lessons and a further 20 lessons from family members and friends. The average cost for professional tuition is £20 - £22 per hour which means that the average learner driver is paying up to £1,200 to pass their practical driving test. Whilst there is nothing wrong with weekly lessons it could take up to 60 weeks for a student to pass their driving test. Go Go Go Intensive offer a structured course syllabus at their training centre and remove the kerbside instruction into a classroom environment. The benefit to this is that all the time spent in the car is spent on driving with little or no kerbside instruction. The syllabus was developed by a Defence Driving Examiner and is based on the Military and Police system who recognise that it is the most efficient and cost effective way of obtaining a driving licence. This is because there are no gaps in learning where a student can forget what they did during a lesson a week earlier. The courses run Monday to Friday and start at 9.00am. The first hour is spent in the classroom with an Approved Driving Instructor (ADI) who starts training and preparing students for their theory test. Students are collected by their driving instructor at 10am where they have a two hour intensive driving lesson, a rest break for half an hour, followed by a further two hour intensive driving lesson. Students return to the classroom at 2.30pm for further classroom training and the course finishes at 5pm each day. At the start of

6

the week the classroom training focuses on getting students to pass their theory and hazard perception tests which are pre-booked to be taken on the Thursday or Friday of the week. By the middle of the week the classroom training focuses on all the elements that are normally taught at the kerbside during weekly lessons. By the end of the week students should have passed their theory test and will have covered all aspects of normal driving. If the Instructor has signed off the students as test ready then they can book a short notice test where Go Go Go Intensive can dramatically reduce the practical test waiting time. The company is so confident with its teaching methods that should a student fail the theory or practical test, if they have been signed off as test ready then any corrective lessons required will be provided FREE of charge until a test pass is achieved. The company also has unique links with the Institute of Advance Motorists and gives free Affiliate membership, for 12 months to all students who pass their driving test. The Institute teaches the Police system called “Roadcraft” and when applied you cannot have a collision that is your fault. Given the Government’s statistic that one in five new drivers crash within 6 months of passing their driving test the system is an invaluable tool and dramatically reduces insurance premiums.

"imagine a spa… with a fantastic treatment menu, the finest facilities, friendly and professional therapists, that always puts you first. ...you no longer have to imagine"

F

irst impressions always count and at ‘Imagine Spa’ they didn't fail to impress. The serene, relaxed atmosphere was evident as soon as we stepped foot into the reception, with the calm music and the sunlight dipping into the area. We were instantly greeted and were offered refreshments. The beauty treatments were explained to us in full before we made a decision of what treatment we would like. We were then shown around the Spa by another welcoming therapist. Along with the swimming pool, jacuzzi and gym, there was also sun loungers around the pool and also in a relaxation room, with plenty of magazines to read. The treatments were something you could only ‘imagine’. The Scentao of Asia Exfoliation and Massage called out among the other amazing treatments that were offered, and both treatments not only met but exceeded my expectations. The gentle 30 minute exfoliation brought relaxation to the mind and body, leaving my skin feeling soft and sensual. The Scentao of Asia Massage complimented this extremely well, with the therapist working her magic on the tired muscles to bring a sense of calm and deep down muscle relaxation, which was quickly achieved as I started to nod off! My friend opted for a less relaxing set of treatments but just as effective. The Deep Tissue Back

8

Massage achieved the aim to relieve muscular aches and pains, leaving her relaxed and revitalised. After spending a relaxing day by the pool, we decided to finish it off by going into the Serail Mud Chamber. The 45 minute treatment left our skin feeling as soft as silk and completely chilled. The initial relaxation stage was created by the healing warmth of the room which enabled the mud we had applied to cleanse our skin accelerating toxin removal. The music and gentle lighting ensured that we were totally relaxed and after a steam bath and a warm shower which removed all the mud, we felt both calm and composed. Overall, our day at Imagine Spa was everything we'd been looking for. With a calm and relaxed atmosphere, friendly and professional therapists and a set of revitalising treatments, Imagine Spa will definitely be somewhere to visit again in the near future. JACKSON LIVE IN CONCERT STARRING BEN & HIS INCREDIBLE LIVE BAND & DANCERS

Stamford Corn Exchange Saturday 19th October 2013 Michael Jackson is fondly remembered as one of the most profoundly influential artists of all time. His impressive career spanned almost five decades, and he was continually at the forefront of popular music, being crowned as he is now, the undisputed King of Pop.

‘Jackson Live in Concert’ sees long-time fan and hugely talented Ben recreate the Michael Jackson experience with his stunning rendition of all his favourite songs. Ben says “From as far into my childhood as I can remember, I have always been obsessed with Michael Jackson. Everything about the King of Pop mesmerized and enchanted me. I used to spend hours pouring over album covers, photographs, interviews, videos and anything I could find

~ Local Information that was about Michael. Even my 7th birthday party was Michael Jackson themed! I always loved to dance and began copying Michael’s signature moves as I dreamt of being a performer just like him”.

Ben’s portrayal of Michael Jackson has to be the most vocally and visually accurate tribute to the King of Pop to have ever toured UK theatres. Ben is joined on the stage by his incredible live band & amazing dancers who work their way through all of MJs hits with impeccable precision. Ben’s got the look, the moonwalk and the voice and his renditions of Thriller, Beat it and Billie Jean are truly sensational.

Jackson Live in Concert features all-live vocals and music, fabulous costumes, and of course all the signature dance moves associated so fondly with the undisputed King of Pop. Pure MJ!

The Whinge Usain Bolt in No Shorts Shocker

T

his month myself and my family went to the Anniversary Games at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford. It was good to be back and it doesn’t seem like a year ago that all that was happening. How things have changed though. The Olympic park is largely a building site again as they remove the temporary structures and get the park ready to be just that - a park, albeit with an athletics stadium and a velodrome stuck in the middle of it. This reminded me more of the test events in the lead-up to the games rather than the Olympics themselves. But there was one other major change the fantastic volunteers were not there! We Brits love to put ourselves down and moan about bureaucracy and our inability to deliver anything, but the Olympics were good and well done with a smooth operation. Getting in and out was a breeze, sometimes busy but you always knew what was going on and were always moving. Even when leaving the Olympic Stadium along with everyone else there was a constant stream to the tube and not much hanging around. What a difference a year makes! Bearing in mind that this time there was nothing else going on at the park, just the athletics you’d have thought someone might just remember how they organized things last year! The first tip I need to give to the organizers is that if you’re going to put the press area in the middle on the footpath that EVERYBODY has to walk on to get to the stadium and then if you have a press call with Seb Coe at the exact time when EVERYBODY is going to the stadium, don’t be surprised if people stop to watch and take photos.

18

And DON’T try to force people to move on and DON’T get angry at those who want to catch a glimpse of him and try to shake his hand. To be fair to Seb, he wanted to meet people, the stewards just got all officious with the public - but what did they expect. On our way out we were told we could use either bridge A or B. Well for us B was a better option so we made our way over to B only to be turned around and forced towards A (because B was getting too full). When we got onto bridge A it came to a standstill whilst we watch bridge B with a constant flow of people (and not many of them). People then started turning around because after 20 minutes of waiting for A to move and watching the now empty bridge B we were getting fed-up. When we then got to bridge B we heard the tannoy telling people not to use bridge A! An old adage about breweries and organization sprang to mind! The most bizarre thing I saw that night was when Usain Bolt was warming up, an official came up to him and got him to lift his training top up so he could see his vest and then to pull his training bottoms down so he could check he was wearing shorts. Now I was completely unaware that the Olympic 100m and 200m champion had a habit of running in the nude - I know they used to do that in ancient Greece but I can imagine that it might impede him a little if he was to try that in the modern games! Check out the video I’ve posted on YouTube: http://youtu.be/jg9NWJ02hrE the incident is at 9:21 - very strange, he doesn’t check anyone else.

Peterborough-based small business specialist, TaxAssist Accountants, gives advice on tax & accountancy matters: Q: I am a VAT registered business and we are about to update our fleet of cars. Do I have to charge VAT on the sale of the old cars? The general rule of thumb is you charge VAT on the sale where you suffered VAT on the original purchase of the car and were able to recover it. However, most businesses are not able to recover the VAT on purchases of cars, unless the cars are: •

Stock for a motor manufacturer or dealer Going to be used as taxis, driving instruction vehicles or self-drive hire cars Will be used exclusively for business purposes (such as pool cars under certain conditions).

You may have purchased the vehicle from a private individual or non-VAT registered business, in which case you won’t have been charged any VAT on the purchase. In this scenario, you probably only need to charge VAT on any profit you make on the sale (i.e. the difference between the sales price and the original purchase price) but there are some criteria to adhere to in order to apply this. In reality, most cars are sold at a loss and if this was the case, no VAT would arise in this scenario - again, subject to certain criteria being met. VAT and motor-related transactions are a complex area as there are specific rules that do not apply to any other instances. I would therefore encourage you to seek professional advice with your local TaxAssist Accountant before you sell or buy any cars to make sure you don’t make any errors or are left out of pocket.

22

Q: I have just started my own business and my business plan is projecting losses for the first year. Should I pay Class 2 National Insurance? Class 2 National Insurance (NI) is payable by the self-employed at a flat-rate; regardless of profit levels. Class 2 NI counts towards your entitlement to certain benefits, like the basic State Pension, Maternity Allowance and Bereavement Benefit. If you earn less than a certain limit (currently £5,725 for 2013/14) you can apply for a Certificate of Small Earnings Exception and not pay Class 2 NI. However, unless you pay NI on other income such as employment income, you might decide to carry on paying them voluntarily to maintain your entitlement to the State Pension and other benefits. Should you have any queries regarding this or any other matter, please feel free to contact your local TaxAssist Accountant.

In The Night Sky #30 eptember is, unfortunately a relatively slow month for astronomy. There’s the equinox on the 22nd and Jupiter is back in the night sky early in the month. Also you can get a good view of the Summer Triangle. As the nights draw in then you get to see a bit more without having to stay up too late.

S

members will be transported via Soyuz 36 on 25th September.

However, this month I’m going to talk about the International Space Station (ISS). You can see this in the Peterborough night sky several times a month for instance in August there was over 30 individual fly-pasts.

It’s quite difficult to see but you are better finding it with the naked eye and then using binoculars because it moves too quickly for a high powered telescope.

I can’t tell you exactly when you will get an opportunity in September because as I’m writing this it’s too early, but there’s a fair chance you will. If you check the NASA website they post the schedule for a few weeks in advance. Just search for ISS and then Space Station Live and finally Sighting Opportunities, you will need to enter your location details (but Peterborough is an option) and there you go. There will be 3 missions launched to the ISS in September, one gathering details of lunar environmental conditions, another testing the Cygnus cargo vehicle - which is basically the unmanned re-supply vehicle. And finally 3 expedition crew

26

If you’ve got a smart phone then there are all sorts of apps that can help you track the ISS and you can sign up for NASA alerts so you get advance warning of any fly past.

Of course you will know that Soyuz is now the method for getting personnel to and from the ISS now that the Space Shuttle programme has been stopped. Last year I was lucky enough to get a very close-up look of Endeavor before she was transported to Los Angeles where she will become a permanent exhibit in the California Science Centre, the Samuel Oschin Air and Space Centre will be constructed around the space vehicle. For September 2013 - By Astrologer Christine Chalklin VIRGO AUG. 24 - SEPT. 22 September is your birthday month and the new moon in your sign on the 5th is an important time for you. New beginnings are evident and you may ask yourself if you are placing enough value on your talents and skills. Venus is travelling through artistic Libra, helping you discover new talents.

LIBRA SEPT. 23 - OCT. 23 Mighty Jupiter is at the highest point in your chart, illuminating the potential for abundance and success in all your endeavours. Be sure to use this cycle wisely to build new structures and plan ahead. Balanced Venus, your ruler, is in your sign until the 11th and she assists with new and creative ideas.

SCORPIO OCT. 24 - NOV. 22 September sees many Scorpios seriously contemplating big change on many levels. Dissatisfaction may have crept in during the year as stern Saturn travels through your sign. Reorganisation is essential and with Venus moving into Scorpio on the 11th it is definitely time to look at new potentials and possibilities.

SAGITTARIUS NOV. 23 - DEC. 21 September brings restless energy to Sagittarians as energetic Mars in Leo highlights the adventurous sector of your chart. Your goals, ambitions and career are also in the spotlight and the Virgo new moon on the 5th emphasises new opportunities coming your way bringing plenty of action this month!

CAPRICORN DEC. 22 - JAN. 20 September suggests Capricorns will need to turn their focus to relationships, partnerships and finances. Motivational Mars in your money area whip up creative new ways with your earning potential. Saturn, your ruler, is in Scorpio and will be joined by Venus on the 11th, a serious decision will be necessary.

AQUARIUS JAN. 21 - FEB. 18 Mighty Jupiter in the work and routine area of your chart brings a new sense of optimism to the way that you do things. Energetic and creative Mars in Leo assists with an abundance of new money making ideas and by mid-month a spectacular aspect with your ruling planet assures that opportunities turn up.

34

PISCES FEB. 19 – MARCH 20 Generous Jupiter is stirring up the love and romance area of your chart, enjoyment comes your way especially after the new moon on the 5th. Your resources and possessions are also in need of attention and as the month progresses you should feel a new sense of stability emerging.

ARIES MARCH 21 - APRIL 20 September brings renewed action in the work and relationship sectors of your chart. Be open to change, be alert and keep an open mind as interesting and exciting opportunities can come your way now. You ruler, motivational Mars is in fiery and creative Leo all month - this is your time to shine!

TAURUS APRIL 21 - MAY 21 September turns your attention to communications, love & creativity. Now is the time for you to sort out what is working and what needs some adjustment. Venus, your ruling planet, is in Libra until the 11th, then she switches to passionate Scorpio suggesting that close relationships will need to come under review.

GEMINI MAY 22 - JUNE 21 Home and family life come into focus during September as the Sun & Mercury pass through this area of your life. Certain decisions that you have been putting off for a while will need your attention now. With the love planet Venus occupying the romance area of your chart, there is some balancing to be done there too.

CANCER JUNE 22 - JULY 22 September puts the spotlight on your appearance and your self-esteem. The new moon on the 5th asks you to review how you communicate with others and what can be improved. Revamping and rejuvenating your living space is also very much on your mind with Mars in inspirational Leo enhancing your creativity.

LEO JULY 23 - AUGUST 23 Cash flow, funds and assets loom large for Leos during September as energetic Mars stays in your sign all month. Abundant Jupiter is in sensitive Cancer in a deeply introspective part of your chart and you may need more rest and relaxation this month. The full moon on the 5th could bring a financial surprise.

BULLETIN FROM CAMBRIDGESHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE SERVICE HARVEST is upon us and we’re calling on local residents to help our fight against straw stack arson.

Stack fires can quickly spread and not only endanger people and livestock, but also life-long work on farms. Stacks burn very slowly meaning crews are committed for long periods of time, making them unavailable for other emergencies. Don’t forget, many of the fire-fighters attending incidents like these in rural parts of our county are on-call personnel and their retention at a stack fire impacts directly upon business and services in their community. We’re working with police, neighbourhood watches and farm groups to drive stack arson down, including installing covert cameras to help bring those responsible to justice. What can you do? We’re urging residents and those passing through rural areas to keep a careful watch. Do you see someone acting suspiciously around stores of hay or straw? Is there an unusual vehicle near farm buildings? Become a community member of Arson Watch and keep an eye on stacks in your area. Report suspicious activity to police on 101 and dial 999 if you see a stack fire. Like our fan page on Facebook: www.facebook.com/cambsfrs, follow us on Twitter @cambsfrs.

To find out if you are eligible for a free home fire safety check, call 0800 917 99 94.
