TECHNOLOGY

App Inventor

3-D Design & Printing

Using the MIT App Inventor, campers learn to create their own functional apps for Android devices. They design and program Android game apps with features such as animated sprites and collision detection and also learn to use smartphone sensors to control their games. Software/platforms used are Android Device, Windows 7 and 8, Chrome, and MIT App Inventor. Campers do not need to bring their own Android tablet or smartphone as class models will be available. At this time, Apple does not support these apps.

This class allows campers to develop a game concept that goes well beyond the limitations of the traditional 2-D game design classes. Learn the physics behind 3-D games and explore beginner event scripting, level design, how to control the flow of gameplay, and storytelling. At the end of the week, campers have a 3-D video game to share with friends and family. Campers work in pairs or teams for most of the program. Returning campers can create more advanced projects that build on previous years.
