The page load time should be less than 2.5 seconds. A faster website provides a better user experience to visitors. All other things being equal, Google will deliver a faster website before a slower site because the faster website will most likely provide a better user experience.

Another important ranking factor is whether a website is responsive, which means that its layout adapts to the type of device used to view it. A responsive website provides a better user experience. Websites that are not responsive try to deliver the entire width of a desktop web page to a smartphone or tablet. To fit the page, the on-page content must be reduced in size, which usually renders the page unreadable. If all else is equal, Google will deliver a mobile responsive website before a non-responsive site.

Google, like its users, prefers secure websites. A malware-infected website is an extreme example of a poor, insecure website. Of course, no one wants to infect their computer by visiting an insecure website. Google has steadily increased the importance of having a secure website by emphasizing HTTPS websites over HTTP sites.
