As United Way of the Midlands (UWM) celebrates 100 years of serving the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro, we are so grateful for the support and caring spirit that has made this work possible.
Since our very beginning in 1923, we’ve worked alongside our valued partners to build awareness of community needs and form a Circle of Support to address those needs. We remove barriers, create opportunity and strengthen the systems that people rely on when they need assistance. And today, thanks to the amazing partnerships created with local businesses, state and local government, individual donors, nonprofit agencies, volunteers and others – UWM continues to thrive and now supports more than 150 nonprofit programs and direct services across the metro to help our neighbors in need.
Tonight, as we celebrate the giving spirit of our community, we hope you take advantage of and enjoy all of the free, fun activities available – face painting, the 360
photo booth, balloon animals, the Community Village and more! We also hope to see you dancing to the music from two of Omaha’s premier live bands – The Travis Band and The Shenanigans

Travis is Omaha’s premier power-funk horn band. The band started playing in 1972 and covers music primarily from the 70s when funk, rock and soul were fused by bands such as Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, Chicago, Ohio Players, War and many more. Travis covers these bands along with many more from the 70s, 80s and 90s to bring you the best brass-based music around. The music pulls people on the dance floor and keeps them entertained throughout the night.
Music is only as good as the musicians playing it and Travis tours with seasoned, accomplished players many of whom have toured and played nationally with well-known acts. Travis is a 10-piece band with four on brass instruments to make the music powerful. The musicians really bring the heat when they get their shot to solo.
TRAVIS BAND SHENANIGANS THE
The Shenanigans is an Omaha-based Irish pub band. The six-member group, made up of two families the Burkes and Kaufmans combines foot-stompin’, hand-clappin’ Irish tunes with other popular genres, including oldies, acoustic rock, country, blues and pop.
What started out as one man with an acoustic guitar has turned into an eclectic group of musicians, including six vocalists, a bassist, mandolinist, drummer, pianist and an electric guitarist. Whatever your mood, The Shenanigans promise a pint-raisin’ good time during every song.
