Logos
As the hero character of our campaign, ‘Hope’ the elephant features prominently in our logo suite, inspired by the organic, curly handwriting of the Thames Hospice logo.
Use of the logos should be in order of hierarchy; for example the full primary version where possible and in all topline communications, and the tertiary logo sparingly.
The wordmark should be used where space is limited. It can also be used standalone where an elephant illustration is already being used on the same page or frame.
To maintain legibility, do not use any logo at less than 20mm/60px in height (or width in the case of the tertiary vertical logo).
In cases where a smaller logo is needed use the small scale wordmark. The minimum size this logo should be used at is 15mm/45px tall wide.
Logos versions
Colour
variants and contrast
Our campaign is fun and energetic, using a vibrant and diverse colour palette.
Our hero suite are the greens as they relate closest to Thames Hospice.
This grid demonstrates the best combinations of logo to background colour. All will work on white backgrounds.
Logo usage
CLEARANCE SPACE
Clearance space around the logo is essential for maintaining its visibility and impact. By ensuring there is sufficient space around it, we prevent other design elements from crowding or overshadowing it, preserving its integrity and readability.
The clearance space around the logo is derived from the height of the Trunks across the Thames wordmark. Ensure no other design element encroaches on this space.
Logo don’ts
Do not stretch or distort the logos.
Do not create new colour versions of the wordmark or logos.
Do not change the layout of the logos.
Do not change the layout of the wordmark.
Do not change the elephant illustrations used in the logos
Do not add a drop shadow or other effects to the logo
Do not outline the logos or wordmarks.
Do not place logos in a holding shape.
Co-branding
Logos should be sized so they look equally balanced. A distance of 0.75 x height of the wordmark (x) end to end should be kept between each one.
Permission must be sought for co-branding contact The Trunks Trail Team: trunkstrail@thameshospice.org.uk.

The tale of Hope
Our hero elephant is named Hope to remind us all that if you look closely at the word ‘hospice,’ you will find hope right at its heart.
Here is our tale of Hope. If you’d like to use this to showcase the trail through a different lens, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch: trunkstrail@thameshospice.org.uk
Once upon a time, a young, light grey elephant named Hope arrived in Windsor, England. With a heart full of curiosity and a spirit of adventure, Hope decided to set out on a journey. Their aim was simple but powerful: to learn about the people and places around them, discovering the world beyond their own.
Hope’s journey began at the foot of Windsor Castle, where they marvelled at the history and beauty surrounding them. As they moved through the town, they met shopkeepers arranging their goods, children playing with delight, and people on their way to work. Hope listened to their stories, some were happy, filled with laughter and warmth, while others carried traces of worry or sadness. Each person had a unique story, and each story touched Hope’s heart.
As they listened, Hope started to change. A faint green hue appeared on their once-grey skin, becoming brighter with each story they heard and each heart they connected with. By the time they reached the River Thames, Hope had met countless people, each with a new tale, each adding a little more colour to their appearance.
Crossing the river and moving towards Slough, Hope continued their journey admiring the creativity and diversity of this vibrant town. They met nurses on their way to care for others, teachers who shared their dreams for their students, and families celebrating birthdays in the park. They listened to them all, and with every story, they grew a little brighter, their skin now a vibrant kaleidoscope of colours, a reflection of the kindness, passion, and hope they found along the way.
Hope’s journey became marked by 30 beautiful elephant statues across Windsor and Slough, each painted by an artist to capture the spirit of the people, the stories, and the joy Hope encountered.
These statues now stand as symbols of unity, friendship, and caring. They remind everyone that Hope lives on in the connections we share, the diversity we celebrate, and the kindness we offer to one another.
For those who follow Hope’s path from Windsor to Slough, the journey is a chance to see the world through their eyes, to remember that each person’s story is valuable, each experience a brushstroke in the colourful canvas of life.
“We say we are a place of hope, a place for living, a place for creating memories.”
Elephant illustrations
Our unique elephant illustrations are the second most distinctive part of our campaign after our logos. We have created a suite of poses that should cover most applications but new ones can be created upon request.
Creating the elephants takes a particular process so if more are needed, please request them from Thames Hospice. This is necessary in order to maintain visual consistency and a high degree of quality control throughout the campaign.
Please do not attempt to create them yourself.

Supporting graphics
We have developed a wide variety of supporting graphics that help to tell the campaign story alongside the logos and elephant illustrations. These include icons, squiggles and organic shapes.
ICONS
Currently a suite of 12 different icons that help to illustrate the content and story we are communicating. Just like Hope, these were designed by taking inspiration from the Thames Hospice logo.
Unlike the elephants, each icon has it’s own ‘hero’ colour options, plus green and white outline versions. This is designed to create a sense of consistency across the campaign and prevent things getting too messy.
New icons can be created if needed. Please request them from The Trail Team.
Please do not attempt to create them yourself.
Icons also available as outlines in green and white!
Supporting graphics
SQUIGGLES
Once again taking inspiration from the Thames Hospice logo, these random little lines are used to provide texture or visual interest in spaces that feel flat.
Predominantly used as part of a pattern, these should be used sparingly.
ORGANIC SHAPES
Our campaign brand is fun, playful, arty and organic - so we avoid hard lines where possible. This carries through to spaces such as call outs, panels and roundels.
We have provided some examples but feel free to create your own that better fit the space and application you are designing for.
Supporting graphics
PATTERNS
We have create a master suite of patterns that should cover all needs:
Squiggles
Icons and squiggles mixed together
Elephants
They all have a full colour, green outline and white outline versions. They can be used at varying degrees of opacity and on different background colours.
Be playful but be careful to not make them the main event; they are there to support not overwhelm the main message or content.
Copy and tone of voice
The audiences for Trunks across the Thames are wonderfully diverse - ranging from local families and school children enjoying the trail, to the local businesses supporting us and tourists visiting our vibrant towns. We encourage you to pitch your copy to resonate with this broad community of supporters.
Regardless of the readership, our messaging should always have a clear objective in mind. As a check, everything you write should reflect the values of Trunks across the Thames (shown opposite).
We would love you to shout about your involvement with Trunks across the Thames, letting your staff, customers and stakeholders know you are supporting the project.
Hope Discovery Creativity Unity
Compassion
We are delighted to be supporting Trunks across the Thames - Thames Hospice’s very first public art trail, coming to our community in summer 2026.
A majestic herd of uniquely designed elephant sculptures will march across our community for nine weeks, transforming the streets, parks, and open spaces of Slough and Windsor into a glorious open-air gallery. This exciting event brings together businesses, schools, community groups, and artists to create a free, fun, family-friendly trail of discovery for everyone to explore and enjoy.
Each magnificent elephant will bring a burst of vibrancy, colour, and creative artistry to our towns. These incredible works of art are designed to celebrate our local culture while igniting a wave of positive change, delivering significant economic, social, and cultural benefits throughout Slough and Windsor.
From the historic sights of Windsor to the bustling heart of Slough, this “unforgettable” trail will highlight iconic landmarks and hidden gems. The adventure will culminate in a fabulous farewell event where the entire bright and beautiful herd will be shown together for the first and last time.
Finally, the elephant sculptures will be auctioned at a special event to raise vital funds for Thames Hospice. This ensures a tremendous legacy of care, helping the Hospice continue providing essential support to local people and their families when they need it most.
