You began this journey with excitement, hope, and big ideas for a future yet to come. The journey likely included unanticipated challenges, but also hopefully unexpected surprises and moments that made you pause and reflect on what you were doing and why you were doing it. Getting to commencement required so many things: your commitment to your program and resiliency, the unwavering support of your family and friends, the encouragement of your faculty and program directors, and the support of the Graduate School. It has been an honor and pleasure to support you in your endeavors and we are so proud to congratulate you on reaching this key milestone.
Commencement has two definitions: 1) a ceremony in which degrees are conferred upon graduating students and 2) a beginning or start. The mission of the Graduate School at Augusta University is to facilitate ground-breaking research and ensure outstanding education. We strive to create an environment that embraces and empowers the next generation of scholars and investigators, supports faculty and staff, and fosters meaningful relationships and collaborations among students across our programs and colleges. Those collaborations are not ending today. We encourage you to keep learning and we hope your time at Augusta University has prepared you well to make your mark on the world. We hope you look back at your time at Augusta University with fond memories. Best of luck, we are proud of each of you.
