hirty-six Grade 8 students graduated from Tavistock Public School at a special ceremony held on Tuesday evening, June 28th, 2016. Principal Laurie James welcomed parents and graduates to the Tavistock Memorial Hall where diplomas and awards were presented by teachers Chris Ross and Craig White. "There are many leaders in this group," Mr. Ross said. "They care about each other, are excited for each other's accomplishments, and show love and support for each other. You will shine in Grade nine," he concluded. It was a special year. The class had both a set of triplets and twins. The Behnke triplets, William, Marie and Peter shared the Academic Award and Marie was also the class valedictorian. She was presented with the Tavistock School Merit Award by sponsor Duane Kropf, President of the Tavistock Men's Club. Peter Behnke earned the Math Award. Twins Megan and Sarah Bailey shared the Physical Education Award for the girls while Luke Hyde was honoured for the boys. The Music Awards went to Zhao-Yu Tan and Fiona Olliffe and

the Performing Arts and History Award to Katie McGrath. Clayton Bender was presented with the Geography Award; Morgan Stock for Visual Arts; and Shelby Wettlaufer for French. Karissa Wagler earned the Science Award as well as the Anna P. Lewis Women’s Institute English Award presented by Mary Alice Roth. Alex Dingwell received the Principal’s Award; Stephanie Cahill the Citizenship Award as presented by the Tavistock Masonic Lodge #609 by Jon Ross; and the third annual Ravnit Hundal Memorial Award was presented to Blair Sparling. Several Grade 7 and 8 students participated in the Gauss Math Contest with Michael Ropp earning the high score for Grade 7 and Peter Behnke for Grade 8. Peter finished in the top 15 per cent in the province. Craig White presented the Honours Awards to the following students: Kamryn Lamond, Marie Behnke, William Behnke, Peter Behnke, Katie McGrath, Jordan Smith, Morgan Stock, Shelby Wettlaufer, Alex Dingwell, Ryan Ziegler, Clayton Gerber, Luke Hyde, Mason McKay, Zhao-Yu Tan and Karissa Wagler.
