Designed By: William James Roué, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia Built By: Smith & Rhuland Shipyard, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia Launched: March 26, 1921, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia Ship's Master, 1921 to 1942: Captain Angus Walters, Lunenburg, Nova Scotia Materials entirely Nova Scotian except for masts. Frame of spruce and oak. Bottom planked with birch. Rails and top of oak. Pine decks. Spars of Oregon pine. Primary Use: Grand Banks fishing schooner. Auxiliary Use/s: Racing, competing in fishing schooner races between 1921 and 1938; and, Touring: Canada, the United States and Europe. Race Record: In 16 races, Bluenose won 11 times, to earn four International Fishermen's Trophies.
