Fraternities and sororities are the largest and most visible values-based organizations on campus. With more than 5,000 students that make up 15 percent of the student body, Fraternity and Sorority Life organizations are committed to health & wellness, community, personal growth, and civic engagement. Involvement on campus and in the Lubbock community, leadership development opportunities, and life-long friendships make Fraternity and Sorority Life one of the most memorable aspects of a student's experience at Texas Tech University.
We believe in fraternity and sorority life and advocate for the organizations and students in their pursuit of fraternal ideals. We strive to provide opportunities to create life-long bonds through the principles encompassed in the shared values of fraternity and sorority life.
Over $500,000 in philanthropy funds was raised by the FSL community in 2023, and OVER 15,000 service hours are completed each year across the community 28

THE PANHELLENIC COUNCIL COORDINATES RECRUITMENT, PROVIDES PROGRAMMING AND ACTIVITIES FOR SORORITY WOMEN, AND WORKS AS A SELF-GOVERNING SUPPORT SYSTEM TO THE SORORITIES AT TEXAS TECH UNIVERSITY. THE COUNCIL PROMOTES THE FOUR FOUNDING VALUES OF FRATERNITY & SORORITY LIFE AT TEXAS TECH AND STRIVES TO UPHOLD SUCCESS AND EXCELLENCE IN ITS MEMBERS. TEXAS TECH'S PANHELLENIC COMMUNITY IS MADE UP OF OVER 2,600 UNDERGRADUATE MEMBERS.
EIGHT MEMBERS MAKE UP THE PANHELLENIC EXECUTIVE BOARD, AND HELP GUIDE AND FACILITATE CONVERSATIONS ABOUT THE COMMUNITY AS A WHOLE. THEY ARE AIDED IN PROGRAMMING AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS THROUGH CABINET POSITIONS CABINET POSITIONS SERVE ALONGSIDE THE EXECUTIVE BOARD TO PLAN EVENTS, PROGRAM FOR THE COMMUNITY, AND STRENGTHEN RELATIONSHIPS WITH OTHER TEXAS TECH ORGANIZATIONS.

JUNIOR PANHELLENIC IS AN ORGANIZATION COMPOSED OF SORORITY NEW MEMBERS WHO WERE INITIATED WITHIN THE PAST YEAR. THIS GROUP OF WOMEN WORK CLOSELY WITH PANHELLENIC COUNCIL TO ASSIST WITH PANHELLENIC DUTIES AND GAIN EXPERIENCE THAT PREPARES MEMBERS FOR STRONG LEADERSHIP POTENTIAL. THE PURPOSE OF JUNIOR PANHELLENIC IS TO PROMOTE INTERFRATERNAL FRIENDSHIP AND INCREASE AWARENESS, KNOWLEDGE, AND PARTICIPATION IN THE PANHELLENIC ASSOCIATION IT ENCOURAGES THE SPECIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOOD CAMPUS CITIZENSHIP THAT SORORITY MEMBERSHIP ENTAILS.
THIS COMMITTEE FOCUSES ON RISK MANAGEMENT AND SOCIAL JUSTICE INITIATIVES EACH MONTH WITHIN THE PANHELLENIC COMMUNITY THE MEMBERS OF THIS COMMITTEE ALSO SERVE AS THE PANHELLENIC JUDICIAL BOARD REPRESENTATIVE FROM THEIR CHAPTER.
PHILANTHROPY AND SERVICE COMIMITTEE IS A GROUP OF WOMEN WITHIN THE PANHELLENIC COMMUNITY WHO ARE APPOINTED FROM EACH PANHELLENIC SORORITY. THE COMMITTEE WORKS TOGETHER TO SUPPORT THE DIFFERENT PANHELLENIC SOROITIES PHILANTHROPIES AND HELP TO GIVE INSIGHT AND IDEAS ABOUT WHAT EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS HELP THE COMMUNITY THRIVE THE WOMEN WORK TO SUPPORT THE RAINBOW ROOM OF LUBBOCK WHICH IS THE PANHELLENIC PHILANTHROPY THROUGH ACTS OF SERVICE AND FUNDRAISERS.
ORDER OF OMEGA IS A LEADERSHIP HONOR SOCIETY FOR MEMBERS OF GREEK ORGANIZATIONS ORDER OF OMEGA RECOGNIZES JUNIORS AND SENIORS WHO HAVE EXEMPLIFIED HIGH STANDARDS IN THE AREAS OF SCHOLARSHIP, LEADERSHIP, AND INVOLVEMENT WITHIN THEIR RESPECTIVE ORGANIZATIONS AS WELL AS WITH THE GREEK, CAMPUS, AND LOCAL COMMUNITY.

In an effort to respect your time and energy this week we have structured our first round (Period I) to allow you to visit all sorority chapters in one day However, this process takes two days to complete with the number of participants we have. This creates a "day off" for you as the other half of the participants are completing Period I.
On your day off, you will attend a mandatory education program, Panhellenic 101, to assist in your successful transition to sorority life at Texas Tech. Pay close attention to times
We also encourage you to take care of any school-related and personal errands. Groups 1-12 will attend recruitment events on Greek Circle on Wednesday; groups 13-24 will attend recruitment events on Thursday
During Panhellenic Day Off all participants will attend Panhellenic 101 at the USA Basketball Arena, an educational program aimed at addressing:

What to expect during the first 3 weeks of college and the uniqueness of fraternity and sorority life during that time
Tools and resources available to help with difficult situations
Healthy attitudes and realistic expectations/norms about alcohol, drugs, sex, mental health, and other issues related to your wellness and safety

Due to safety and parking concerns, we provide bus transportation to and from Greek Circle and campus. All participants will meet each day in the C-15 parking lot just west of the United Supermarket Arena.
If you live on campus, you will walk to the C-15 parking lot; find other women in recruitment to walk with! Those living off campus will be allowed to park in C-15. You must have a 2024-2025 residential or commuter parking pass.
When returning from events, the bus will return you to campus. From there you can drive or walk back home. Please always Check the Bus for a sign in the front window describing the route to make sure you are getting on the correct shuttle. When in doubt you can always ask a Rho Gamma to help you!

Looking for ways to get involved within community service? Well you came to the right place! Not only does each sorority have their own philanthropy that they chose give back to, but so does Panhellenic as an organization.
The Lubbock County Rainbow Room helps Child Protective Services caseworkers with providing essential items to meet the needs of children and their families, ideally helping to keep the families together. Suppose the children are placed in the foster system. In that case, however, the Rainbow Room provides items to ensure quality of life and normalcy during the adjustment and to aid the foster families.
The Lubbock County Rainbow Room is the official 2024 Philanthropy of the Texas Tech Panhellenic Community. The Community works to provide volunteers and resources for rainbow room! Rainbow Room Website: www.communitypartnerslubbock.org
Each day, following your final event you will be given the opportunity to indicate which chapters you enjoyed the most These preferences will be put into a program with assistance from a Rho Gamma They will ask that you cluster your preferred groups, and rank all other groups. Example: Period I you will cluster 9 and rank 3 chapters. A Daily Ranking sheet will be provided to assist you in thinking through your selections.
You will exit your last event, and immediately enter selections through the phone app (iPhone) or in the tent (if you do not have an iPhone). You will need to show the Rho Gamma your selections, and verify they are in the correct order. She will enter in a PIN that submits your preferences into our system. Period II and Period III allow you to make selections throughout the day as you finish your last event.
During Panhellenic 101 we will discuss mutual selection, and how your schedule is determined for Period II through Bid Day. Pref Night selections are made at the Student Union Building and must be made with a member of Panhellenic. This process may take longer than previous days, as decisions at this point are often times more difficult.
Recruitment is an exciting time, but it is also a thoughtful process to match a potential new member to a sorority. After the final round of recruitment, participants are asked to sign a document called the Membership Recruitment Acceptance Binding Agreement, or MRABA. The purpose of the MRABA is to ensure your awareness of the commitment you are making when you submit your final selections. The MRABA is your formal acceptance of your bid.
If you receive a bid from a chapter you list and later choose not to pursue membership or not to be initiated, you may not join another NPC chapter at Texas Tech until the Fall 2025 Primary Recruitment.
The MRABA is a document to help you make the best decision possible. If you have questions, you can talk to the executive board or FSL Staff.
If after the final round you would like to discuss listing only one chapter on your MRABA, you will need to meet with Fraternity & Sorority Life staff before submitting your selections
The right to be treated as an individual. 1. The right to be fully informed about the recruitment process. 2. The right to ask questions and receive true and objective answers from recruitment counselors and members.
3. The right to be treated with respect. 4. The right to be treated as a capable and mature person without being patronized.
5. The right to ask how and why and receive straight answers.
6. The right to have and express opinions to recruitment counselors.
7. The right to have inviolable confi dentiality when sharing information with recruitment counselors.
8. The right to make informed choices without undue pressure from others.
9. The right to be fully informed about the binding agreements implicit in the membership acceptance signing. 10. The right to make one’s own choice and decision and accept full responsibility for the results of that decision. 11. The right to have a positive, safe, and enriching recruitment and new member experience. 12. You have the right to report a sorority if they violate any portion of the Membership Recruitment Rules. Contact your Rho Gamma to report a violation. 13.

A woman wishing to participate in Primary membership recruitment must be a regularly matriculated student at Texas Tech University.
1) First year will be defined as students who have graduated high school in May or June prior to Fall Primary Recruitment, regardless of completed college credit hours.
2) Second year will be defined as students who have completed twenty-four (24) hours, or have completed one (1) year of college.
3) Third years will be defined as students who have completed fifty-eight (58) hours or have completed two (2) years of college.
4) Fourth years will be defined as being in their last year or semester of college.
PNMs must complete the registration process with Texas Tech University College Panhellenic on or before the specified deadline prior to the start of primary membership recruitment events with the option of making an extenuating circumstance, or special request to register after the deadline.
A potential new member (PNM) shall attend recruitment orientation and all membership recruitment events for which she receives invitations. PNMs unable to attend all of the scheduled events during Recruitment (due to participation in a University-sponsored activity or due to a personal emergency) will be allowed to rank the sororities they are invited to attend. The Panhellenic Executive Board will then attempt to allow them to attend the events of the sororities they most want to attend. However, if a PNM purposely decides to not attend an event for reasons other than illness, a personal emergency, or another conflicting University activity, then she will be removed from Primary Recruitment and not be permitted to accept a bid during Primary Recruitment.
In accordance with the NPC Unanimous Agreements, Section VI, 2, C-D, alcoholic beverages and the participation of men in recruitment and bid day activities are prohibited. Recruitment is defined as beginning the first day of Period I and ending at the time bids are distributed on Bid Day. Bid Day is defined as the twenty-four (24) hour period following the distribution of bids.
Mandatory transportation will be provided for all PNMs to and from the individual events. Members, alumnae, patronesses, or new members are not permitted to transport PNMs. If an emergency arises, the Panhellenic Executive Board must be notified.
PNM nametags and wristbands are distributed by the Panhellenic Executive Board during Recruitment Kick-Off and are to be worn at all times during the week.
It is in the best interest of Texas Tech Panhellenic to foster a primary recruitment process that promotes positive Panhellenic relationships.
“Panhellenic Spirit” is defined as being friendly, kind, and considerate of all Texas Tech Panhellenic chapters and their members. Just as Panhellenic members are expected to be kind and respectful to each other and PNMS, PNMs are also expected to be kind and respectful to chapter members and other PNMS.
Panhellenic Executive Board will train Rho Gammas in a manner that ensures they are prepared to handle situations in which negative Panhellenic spirit occurs.
Notification of Violation to Panhellenic Executive Board:
If a PNM is disrespectful to a chapter, the chapter’s recruitment officer, or main Panhellenic contact, will communicate their experience with the PNM with Panhellenic Executive Board.
If a PNM is being disrespectful as reported by another PNM or a Rho Gamma, the Rho Gamma and/or the PNM shall notify the Panhellenic Executive Board of the violation.
Disrespect is defined as any instance of name-calling, privacy invasion, slurs, insults, teasing, homophobic or racist remarks, verbal abuse, humiliating remarks, sexual harassment, mimicking unkindly, encouraging exclusion of a chapter to others involved in the recruitment process, making false claims about a chapter or PNM, or any instance of intentional and/or repeated harm inflicted that causes physical or emotional distress. Chapter recruitment contacts, PNMS, and Rho Gammas reporting a violation must provide the Panhellenic Executive Board with justifiable and substantial proof when notifying the Panhellenic Executive Board of an alleged violation.
The Panhellenic Executive Board reserves the right to dismiss an alleged violation if the evidence provided by the accuser is disrespectful to the accused as defined by the rules.
Chapter recruitment officers, PNMS, and Rho Gammas reporting violations must provide specific details of the incident to the Panhellenic Executive Board within 4 hours following the alleged violation for the violation to be confirmed and communicated back to chapters.
Violation Procedures:
First Violation: the PNM will receive a verbal warning from Panhellenic Executive Board and will notify all chapters of the violation. Panhellenic Executive Board shall report to all chapters that “PNM ### has violated Section 5(E) of the Panhellenic Primary Recruitment Rules”.
Second Violation: the PNM will be dismissed from primary recruitment and will not be allowed to join a Panhellenic chapter for one calendar year. Panhellenic Executive Board shall report to all chapters that “PNM ### has violated Section 5(E) of the Panhellenic Primary Recruitment Rules and has been dismissed from primary recruitment”.
READ ALL PANHELLENIC DAILY EMAILS as they contain important information.
ATTEND ALL EVENTS you are invited to each day. Any unexcused absence will cause you to be removed from the recruitment process.
WEAR YOUR NAME TAG at all times when attending recruitment events. Replacement nametags are available outside each lodge.
INFORM A RHO GAMMA AND/OR PANHELLENIC if an emergency arises, also contact your Community Advisor if you are in a Residence Hall.
REPORT ANY SCHEDULE CONFLICTS to Panhellenic in advance of an anticipated absence.
Do Not believe the rumors that you hear or the things you see on social media! If it doesn’t sound true it most likely isn’t, also please don’t contribute to the spreading of these rumors.
ASK QUESTIONS. Make sure to ask questions when you do not understand. Rho Gammas and Panhellenic are happy to help you through the process.
BE POLITE AND RESPECTFUL when attending events at ALL TIMES!
INFORM PANHELLENIC if you want to withdraw from recruitment, we will send you to one of our staff members to walk you through the process.
BE HONEST. Tell the sororities about your interests, hobbies, or accomplishments. The sorority members are excited about getting to know you.
BE CAREFUL. Traffic in Greek Circle moves very quickly. Please cross the street with purpose and remain alert. Use sidewalks whenever possible.
Drink lots of water! Lubbock is very hot in August and we don’t want you getting dehydrated.
Make friends! Regardless of what chapter you join you will still be apart of the Panhellenic community!
DON’T STAY GLUED TO YOUR CELL PHONE. You will be busy making new friends and moving from event to event.
DON’T BE LATE! We will do our best to keep to a strict schedule, please do the same.
DON’T GO IN WITH YOUR HEART SET on one sorority. Keep an open mind! You may not be familiar with all the sororities, so take time to consider membership in each group. Every sorority offers something unique. Also, consider that being a legacy of a group does not ensure membership in that group.
DON’T COMMUNICATE with current or alumnae sorority members about specific organizations. No one should pressure or influence you during this time (this includes emails, text messages, and all social media outlets).
DON’T PARTICIPATE IN EVENTS AFTER RECRUITMENT that includes men and/or alcohol. Go to the REC or attend a Raider Welcome Event or a if you have downtime at night.
DON’T TALK BADLY ABOUT CHAPTERS. There is a home for everyone and you never know where that home will be for you or your new PNM friends.
DON’T ACCEPT gifts, letters, flowers, or meals from current or alumnae sorority members.
DON’T ALLOW current or alumnae sorority members to imply or promise a bid to membership. This practice is invalid, illegal, and forbidden during Primary Recruitment.
ANSWER YOUR CALLS. Panhellenic may call you throughout the week, and you must provide response within 15 minutes.
