Lubbock, has been improving local communities through the purchase and renovation of apartment communities. He began renovating singlefamily houses while still at Tech. Since graduating, he has moved on to larger apartment communities. Preston’s company, Scarlet Matador, has renovated eight apartment properties in Lubbock totaling more than 1,500 units. Unlike many property own-
ers, He is not looking for a quick flip, instead taking a long-term approach that aims to retain tenants and build loyalty. His wife is Tierney Zetzsche Preston (’06 BBA International General Business).
2010 Sonya Britt (Ph.D. Personal Financial Planning) Saint George, Kan., and Dottie Durband, director of the Red to Black® peer financial counseling program, recently had their book, “Student Financial Literacy: CampusBased Program Development,” published by Springer. The book explains how to start a program similar to Red to Black® at other universities.
