Hi, my name is Chris and I live in Beckford village, just under Bredon hill, where I have an Art Studio.

For much of my life I worked as an Art Therapist in mental healthcare which involved helping people find a creative way of working through their problems. My own creativity took a back seat but, eventually, the need to create my own artwork surfaced. It had been many years since I had painted so I approached this with some trepidation!

Eventually joining a Cotswold art group, helped develop my painting skills, as there was lots of encouragement and support on offer.

That was over five years ago and since then I have really enjoyed reconnecting with Art, almost feeling like a child being allowed to play again! Having my own art studio seemed a huge indulgence at first. However, it’s been wonderful having a dedicated space where art materials don’t need to be tidied up and put away! It’s a lovely calming space to sit, even when it’s raining.

My studio is now full of paintings and drawings, many are based on my photos and sketches of seascapes and landscapes. I enjoy ‘people watching’ and sometimes include people in images to give a sense of ‘story’ behind the picture. Mostly, I use pastels and acrylic mediums as they are quite flexible, allowing you to make changes to artwork, if needed.

I am very happy for people to see my work so the studio will be open on occasional weekends and by request. If you would like to visit please just email or phone to arrange. Much of the artwork is for sale and greeting cards available. I n addition to creating art, I am still a practicing HCPC registered Art Therapist.

Finally, in response to the current energy crisis, I am offering my studio as a ‘warm space’ to local people who might appreciate some company and a ‘cuppa’! This will be one morning a week over the Winter months.

Please phone for details if you’d like to come along. I look forward to welcoming you soon!
