Wardens Walks In January
Feel like blowing away the postChristmas Cobwebs? Then how about joining one of the guided rambles in the Cotswolds, writes Jack B. Walker.
Voluntary wardens lead a series of walks to suit most abilities within the Cotswolds AONB year round. The region stretches from Bath in the South to the Warwickshire borders in the north. In most cases prebooking for the walks is not required.
Of particular local interest this month are the ‘Hampen Hike’ (Friday 6th January, beginning at Andoversford,) and ‘Walking The Ways ‘on Tuesday 17th January (from Winchcombe).
Also nearby on Tuesday 17th January is ‘The Green Dragon and a load of Coberleys’ starting out from the famous inn at Cockleford.
Appropriate waterproof clothing and footwear should be worn. Dogs are not permitted on the walks (other than assistance dogs), and all are free of charge - although donations are welcome. For more information, start times and meeting points, visit the website www.cotswoldsaonb.org.uk
