Where Is The Grand Canyon? The Grand Canyon is among the seven wonders of the world. It is located in the north of Arizona, near the southern border of Utah and south -eastern end of Nevada. It is the second most visited national park in the United States. The Grand Canyon National Park is spread over a whopping 4768.49 km and is mainly divided into North Rim, South Rim, and West Rim. The visitors mostly fly into Las Vegas or Pheonix and rent a car to reach the park. The park does not allow private vehicles to move around, but hop-on, hop-off shuttle services are available to take you around. The South Rim is more famous, getting 5 million visitors each year. It has many museums, visitor centers, viewpoints, lodges, and trails. Grand Canyon West is operated by the Hualapai tribe and not the National Park services, so keep that in mind. In the South Rim, you have guided tours, helicopter tours, which take a day.
THINGS YOU CAN DO IN THE GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK 1) Visit The Visitor Center And Museums, And Learn The History: The Visitor Center would provide you with multiple options on how you want to explore the Grand Canyon. Verkamp's Visitor Center (1906), open for more than a century, get souvenirs and get the shuttle services and other activities with guides which arranged here. Check out the Yavapai G eology Museum, established in 1928. It has some interesting exhibits, and you can familiarize yourself with the history of Grand Canyon. Also, visit the Kolb Studio, a photography studio that has been restored.
2) Mule, Bicycles, Helicopter, And Car Ride: Sights and scenery of the Grand Canyon can take you by surprise. It is definitely a sight to behold, so explore the park on mules, or ride around in bicycles, which can be easily rented. Several helicopter tours are available, depending on your budget.
3) Grand Canyon Village: Historical village in the South Rim was sorely designed to accommodate the tourists, and it boasts many heritage monuments. One can find ways to make arrangements on how to proceed with the touring of the Grand Canyon. There are many historical places such as El Tovar Hotel, the Bright Angel Lodge, Buckey O'Neill Cabin, and Hopi House.
4) Grand Canyon Skywalk: The Grand Canyon Skywalk, located at the Eagle Point, Grand Canyon West, is maintained by the Hualapai Tribe. The skywalk is no t a part of Grand Canyon National Park but is on the reservation land managed by the Hualapai tribe. This horseshoe-shaped glass cantilever attracts about a million visits per year. Take in the beautiful views from the top, as you walk across the skywalk.
5) Desert View Watchtower: The watchtower was designed by Mary Colter, in the year of 1932. The walls of the first floor, the Hopi room has been painted by artist Fred Kabotie. Artist Fred Geary has painted the second and third floors, and designs are base d on the prehistoric sites. Enjoy the excellent view from the top of the shop. The bottom of the tower is a gift shop from where you can get souvenirs.
6) Hualapai River Runners Rafting: Experience the thrill of whitewater rafting on the Colorado River, al l through the Grand Canyon. You can either book a one day or a two -day trip, depending on your schedule. Hualapai tribe arranges for the accommodation and guides to lead you on this adventure.
7) Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge: Overlooking the North Kaibab Trails and Bright Angel Creek, Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge offers spectacular views. It provides better views and seclusion compared to other lodges in the area. Make the bookings well in advance to enjoy all the delights that the north rim lodge has to of fer.
8) Visit All The Viewpoints: Viewpoints offer a majestic view of the Grand Canyon. The following are the list of Viewpoints, Grandview Point, Yaki Point, Lookout Studio, Yavapai point, Mather Point, Moran Point, and Point Imperial.
9) Trekking Trails: Grand Canyon offers several trekking trails. You can choose one depending on your schedule, interest, and curiosity. There are South Rim Trail, Bright Angel, and Angel Point Trails, North and South Kaibab Trails, Havasu waterfalls, Grandview Trail, Hermit Trail, and many more.
