strength, since its humble beginnings in Monte Carlo some 6 years ago. Competitors from at least 37 countries will compete during three days of gruelling competition. The WBC competition will take place throughout the weekend in the WBC hall which is to the right of the entrance hall. The final is on Sunday, May 21 from 10.00 to 14.30.

World Cup Tasters Championship The World Cup Tasters Championship is an activity developed and owned by the SCAE. It was first implemented at the SCAE conference in February 2004 and repeated in Athens in March 2005. The general idea is to stimulate the interest in coffee tasting and in particular the art of coffee cup tasting among young people. The championship also aims to start giving the same recognition to coffee tasters that is afforded to wine tasters. We believe that this event should also give publicity to the fact that quality coffees are selected only after a very thorough process performed by very skilled individuals. The competition format is unbelievably fast and exciting, with the cuppers pitting their skills against other individual cuppers. This is great competition, which is never dull. It will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 08.00 to 12.00 in the theatre that is located in the Exhibition Hall.

Athens, Greece, in March 2005. This competition is based on the fact that numerous coffee bars, bars, cafés and restaurants throughout the world serve combinations of coffee blended with alcohol on a daily basis. The competition is, therefore, designed to stimulate quality improvement and innovation in this much neglected area of the coffee community. The competition tests the ingenuity of the contestants as well giving the audience some great ideas to take home and try out in their own bars. This competition will take place on Friday, May 19 from 13.30 to 18.00 in the theatre that is located in the Exhibition Hall.

World Latte Art Championship The first SCAE World Latte Art Championship was held in Athens, Greece in March 2005. This is a competition that is designed to stimulate quality improvement in espresso and milk-based beverages. It is a competition that essentially tests the artistic ability of the barista, while at the same time his or her ingenuity in creating new designs. This is a must-see competition for all baristas and coffee bar owners, for while these champions are the best in the field, spectators will be treated to what is virtually a masterclass in latte art. This competition will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 11.00 to 14.30 at the Latte Art Station in the Exhibition hall on the upper floor.

Troels Overdal Poulsen, 1st place winner in World Barista Championship in Seattle, 2005 Troels Overdal Poulsen, 1. Coffee in Good Spirits Championship Die erste Coffee in Good Spirits Meisterschaft fand in Athen, Griechenland, im März 2005 statt. World Latte Art Championship Die erste SCAE Latte-Art-Weltmeisterschaft fand im März 2005 in Athen, Griechenland statt.
