ARCHITECTURE
AMENDING “DEAD” SPACES OF AMERICAN DOMESTICITY
TYPOLOGIES
The traditional understanding of suburban and domestic boundaries no longer serves contemporary urbanism. The recurring domestic fabric of South Los Angeles clusters housing away from resources. The result leads to “dead” spaces in the community threshold condition. These ideas aim to add opportunity and ease the current burdens of residents, integrating a new urban landscape into the previously suburban neighborhood.

MIXED-USE
Proposal for a mixed-use office building for Prospect , the hosts of a triennial arts exhibition, in downtown New Orleans. The design creates a building that continually performs as an exhibtion space while meeting user demands. Pedestrians are offered a peak into the interior, invited into the building at the street level, and encouraged to meandor upwards toward the roof.

PHASES
Competition entry for an installation in Plaza Escuelas Trevijano, located in Northern Spain, constructed out of the wood materials provided by wood supplier that holds the competition. The design reimagines the typical visitor relationship to the plaza in terms of the two main objects in the square, the tree and the statue.
STARTING POINT
A theoretical competition entry for a library in Nerja, Spain. The project proposes a new street through the lot that connects the plaza and ocean view in a similar manner as the nearby meandering streets. The walls at the edges of the property hold the bulk of the program which allows the common areas to be flexible with their program. The archive at the bottom level reduces the need for dense shelving above.
