From the President
DEAR MEMBERS OF THE MCC FAMILY,

Throughout the 2021-22 school year we focused on our staff theme, “Celebrate what’s right with the world.” It seems each day, our students and staff remind us of the importance of staying positive.
Some examples of “Celebrate”… • Our recent student art exhibit showcased the work of students in AP
Art; their wonderful projects are testament to both their talent and creativity.
• Academically, MCC students continue to excel; three members of the Class of 2023, Logan Elkins, Matthew Tecson, and Megan
Tierney are moving on in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Their PSAT results will result in the National Merit Scholarship
Corporation designating them as Semi-Finalists or Commended
Students in the fall.
• We added a wonderful new program called Peers as Partners in
Learning; currently, ten amazing seniors serve as our PIT Crew (Peer Inclusion Team). They work in the classroom with students in
Algebra 1, Algebra 2, English 1, and English 2 classes and also serve as Academic Peer Coaches working individually with students to help them with organization, motivation, and assisting with specific course work. What a great example of Hustlers helping Hustlers!
• Our athletic program continues to be robust as more than 70% of our students participate in one or more of our 20 athletic programs.
Our athletic tradition grows stronger as four graduates have returned to coach -- Paul Jamie ’17 took the helm of our Cross Country and
Track teams, Michelle Johnson ’08 is our new Girls Lacrosse coach,
Tammy Jo Jones ’88 leads the Stingers, and Rich Pruzinsky ’96 joined our teaching staff and will coach the football team.
Highlights of this issue of Connect include stories by Allison Reynolds ’01 highlighting our Mini Dance Marathon, by Patrick Koster ‘89 and Robert McDaniels ‘89 highlighting their long-term friendship, and a “where are they now” story about our 2013 state championship baseball team.
Enjoy the read!
Best,
